It's a temporary ban nim, not a full ban. Your ban is lifted in 2 days

I know, still don't think it was very fair though, i was never told anything, left 1 sign and ended up tempbanned, but anyway

I'm off till september, going to play a little single player, make some towns and use some redstone. I hope there'll be a new map for the new update. I really like Hare's nation at War suggestion.

Thanks to Cherry and the admins for running the server in the great way in which they have. Your dedicated time is much appreciated.
    See ya in September,

Servers lost its freshness, which was its main appeal

how about starting again, but with a huge goal?

like me and a friend are building a huge airport on another server.

Something that everyone can take part in, or a themed server, medieval, futuristic, etc..

That's something currently looked into. There's a new major Bukkit plugin on the block that's currently reinventing how plugins will work (ie force users to use mods/texture packs and such). Sounds like a fascist regime is in order but its more along the lines of 'Better than wolves' mod may indeed be possible on the next map.

It sort of has lost it's initial freshness which isn't a huge thing for me. Just the community has different directions and I'd like to see it coming together, It's really just because I want to see what I can do in singleplayer with town building and other things. Not only to do with the server itself.

Also I know the plugins are installed to keep the server interesting for some but I do find them becoming too much.

I agree, mcmmo is a bit too far towards making things too easy!

I'll assume the role of perpetual dictator in Rometown in your absence Crow don't worry...:pac:

Servers a bit dull alright..too many towns for too few people I think, was good for first few weeks as people were around Boardstown a lot more. I would be in favour of keeping Mcmmo as it's something to reward mining etc. but grinding fcuks it up really. I think it's kind of the same story as last time; people have all the ores etc. they need so aren't using iconomy and we're all spread out, minecraft needs a super difficulty mod/plugin or something just to make it that bit harder, at the moment it's too easy to avoid mobs.

I agree with the statement that it has lost its freshness. I can only hope the server is reset for 1.8.

Wing and I will look after romantown during your period of absenteeism ;)

Don't like mmco. Its too hard on the non 5 hours a day minecrafters.

People quad drops vs me getting the rare double makes things far too easy.

Communities have become spread out, with one or two people in a little towns spread across the map. Best fun I had was the night of the launch, when everyone helped together to get shelters built for the night. That spirit is gone sadly. :(

I was saying it being fresh isn't a huge thing for me, It was the failure of towny, of people actually staying in a town that really was a big downer for me. It would of been the continuity I wanted in the server, but people buying plots and not building on them led me to not want to finish building The town. Though I'm not blaming anyone lol I did the same in nims town :P

I also didnt build in your town yet

It's a shame to see this server has gone a similiar path as the last one but i think when everyone started going out and building new towns it kind of wrecked things.

Though to be fair i think we got a lot of things right at the start. The main town layout is great and i think the shop system is better on this map too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,041 ✭✭✭hare05

If we do restart the server, I think we should remove /home and have beds set individual spawn points. It would encourage people not to go too far from spawn when building, to start with. And once you set your spawn in an area, you're more likely to stick around. It would make towns more useful as currently we can all just teleport/metro to anywhere on the map. It would also encourage road upkeep, lighting up safe paths, greater use of transit systems, etc.

It would also make mining/trading more challenging as you would have to safely get the stuff home/to the shop after mining it.

MCMMO tbh is only really useful in that you can clear obsidian quickly. The extra drops are fun to have, but completely destroy the economy as power levellers can get their hands on stuff like gunpowder/glowdust so much easier than others, not to mention multiple ore drops and unbalanced arena fights.

I blame the plugins for any and all server stagnation. Made a large post about it before so I'm not going to bother again. Also slightly buttmad about not being able to hook up dungeon spawners into a battle-arena type facility but that in itself also has to do with plugins since we're forbidden from "gaming" the iConomy system we're forced to use (Since I'd be getting money I don't even care about), which has in turn been made redundant by McMMO (Giving people all the materials they want, with no reason to buy anything), which in turn has made any kind of effort in trying to gain materials redundant (OH MAN I JUST GOT THREE DIAMONDS FROM ONE BLOCK)...

I guess I just feel like trying to add all sorts of plugins to try keep people interested is having the absolute opposite effect. When I saw the magic plugin's details all I could think was "Oh by, something else to practically abuse that has no downside whatsoever". At the current rate we're starting to emulate a freebuild server without the freebuilding. I'm finding it a bit hard pressed to log on lately as a result, though that's mostly due to being busy with programming and pretty girl :pac:.

The entire post was there just so you could say this. :pac:

    Also, agreed, agreed, agreed.

Minecraft was so much more fun when you were scared to leave the cave at night. Right now you can just gather several creepers in a line, and lead them over a cliff, and there's no fear because a quick /home brings you back to walking distance of your stuff.

And yeah, bring back all the fun things you could do with mob spawners. I have one on my single player map that spawns hundreds of things and just dumps them in the sea. No reason to it, it's just funny to see that many mobs unable to climb a 2 block island edge :D

You can't beat the first time you played and had only heard about monsters! Then it got dark, you had nothing, the noises started...

    scary stuff first time round!:)

The only game that's scared me more than my first creeper/spider was Nightmare House 2 or Korsakovia.

Even Amnesia doesn't hold a candle to that first night of TSSSSSsssss....

There's a mod out there that let's most mobs be able to dig through most blocks but not all. Combine that with say, a large starting town and a countryside FILLED with mob spawners, and you got your dangerous minecraft again.

To who ever keeps changing people's usernames, it ends now or I will remove you from the server for a month.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,313 ✭✭✭Mycroft H

I liked the idea of Mob spawners, they take tons of effort to make one that works righ and you get cool stuff like arrows and gunpowder in return.

Now I understand that they mess with the bounties paid on mobs but if we were redoing the server, we should be allowed to create them.

Maybe a huge communal one :)

It's an admin command. It affects your name only on this server (anyone with ~ in front of their name)
