Paedophiles - do you sympathise with them?

    obviously what they do is pretty low brow and whatnot, but surely it's just a sexual orientation like any other? whilst we feel sorry for their victims, surely we must also feel sympathy for they themselves who live in a society that deems their sexual preferences to be deviant.

    I feel sorry for them, I'm sure they don't want to feel how they do. But I stop feeling sorry for them if/when they decide to act on their urges.

    Depends, a peadophile is simply someone attracted to children, something which can't be helped, I would feel sorry for those who feel the attraction but don't act. I would not feel sorry for one who does act.

    I imagine that if you asked this question 30-50 Years ago about Homosexuals much of the same argument would be rehashed.

    You don't have to abuse children to be a pedophile, pedophilia is just a sexual attraction to pre-pubescent children.

    I'm sure there are countless more pedophiles out there who've never touched a child in that way.

    Those who act on their urges deserve no sympathy.
    There must be some out there who are that way inclined but would never act on it though and thats pretty shit for them.

    is there anything you want to own up to? looking for a debate out of this is sheer and utter nonsense. You seem to put society as the bad guys in a scenario like this, talk to a victim of this crime and tell me you should sympathise with the paedophiles.

    How could somebody feel sorry for an adult that takes advantage of a helpless child?
    They are sick, sick people and they should be put on an island far away never to return to cause pain to a child or family again!

    I don't really care what peoples sexual orientations are.

    I don't have time for anyone who is capable of rape or murder for their sexual pleasure or some gratification of whatever nature. Even the use of porn materials that might have involved either of the above.

    No point in worrying about people who are not actually doing "anything"

    Not valid to compare the two.Homosexuals are consenting adults,Paedophiles are just scum and should be branded on the forehead so we can all see them in the open.

    wiki states it as an psychiatric disorder,but the offenders are not always dirty old men,there have been cases where the offenders where teens.
