I have no interest and care nothing about the GAA

I don't think it's necessary or important to have status symbols like a big car or house to be happy. In fact those things have nothing to do with happiness.

I think going out regularly just to get pissed is a waste of a life and those who do so are an embarrassment to the country by living down to the 'drunken Irish' cliche

    Abortion should be legalised

The recession has it's upsides-housing is becoming more affordable, less traffic clogging up the roads, less carbon emissions, better community spirit with more people volunteering in their local community than ever before, an end to the tasteless and destructive celtic tiger excesses...

Organised religion should be made illegal, worldwide. People should have a right to believe what they want but in the privacy of their own homes. In organising religion and appointing 'human' figureheads, we have only created largely unelected political leaders who wield much more power with their followers and have overseen disastrous consequences. Fictional deity's preaching positive messages do little harm, human's first priority is self-preservation, which makes it weak and corruptible.

The Irish general public are more to blame for this recession than we'd like to think. We're a country which expects everything to be handed to us, if we don't we sit back, get drunk and moan and we demonise anyone with any sort of a vision that means we have to get up off our own arses. We'll never succeed as a country but will always be popular because the world sees us as a joke, but a bit of craic all the same. We're akin to that kid in school who was hilarious and everybody liked, but never got girls and just followed the crowd...because we don't have the balls/confidence/motivation to be anything more.

On a similar point, though I obviously don't agree with the methods used, I think the ideas explored in the original Saw films are dead on. Not everybody deserves life if they aren't willing to actually live.

Voting age should be raised to 21 not be changed to discriminate against the young because most young people of all ages are either misinformed, ignorant, or idiots.

FYP. Anyway its the old people who continually vote for Fianna Fail who do the damage.

Nobody born outside Ireland should ever be allowed on social welfare

You should have your dole cut off if you concieve a child while both partners are on social welfare

everyone coming into the country should adapt to the irish way of life

only let skilled immigrants in and only if they have a job waiting, if they get sacked they have 3 months to find a job or go home

our borders should be almost entirely closed untill we get to less than 10% unemployment

all drugs should be legal and taxed

people who take heroin, cocaine, crack or meth should not be entitled to healthcare unless they can pay for it , and should not be entitled to social welfare.

I should be allowed to kill(if they have a weapon) or severely injure(if they dont) anyone who breaks into my house or attempts to steal my car etc... even if it means following them away from the scene, reloading, going back and getting the lads and going to their gaf

people on social welfare shouldnt be allowed access to cash, should be banned from buying drink, smokes , holidays, concert tickets, etc..

the price of cigarettes should go back down to a fiver

off licences should allowed be 24 hours as should pubs and clubs.

the seanad should be abolished , the county councils made smaller and most of the civil servants sacked, make the goverment smaller and outsource everything to the more competetive private sector

remove all this carbon tax lark off fuel and make it cheap again.

if a foreign person is found begging they should be deported straight away.

Isreal should be leveled and turned into a large area of scorched earth that can be used by nobody. all its people told to cop the fúck on and stop being racist, terrorist biggots.

men always make better employees unless its waitressing or behind a bar/on tv trying to get punters to buy stuff.

really really over the top flambouyant men and really butch women (who often happen to be gay) bring all the abuse on themselves and deserve the non violent aspects of it.

90% of people in trinity doint arts, politics or economics are wánkers

the age of concent should be 16 for both genders , but if a person under 16 but over 13 engages in sexual contact with somebody under the age of 20 it shouldnt be illegal either

abortion should be legal and available for whatever reason aslong as you pay for it , but if you have more than 1 a psycological assesment and some serious contraception councilling should be given

all churches/mosques/whatever should all have a massive warning label outside like on smoke packets only saying "none of this has been in any way proved, we dont reccomend believing it

travellers should have the law more heavily enforced on them and their children taken away if they dont go to school.

Nobody born outside Ireland should ever be allowed on social welfare

What about an Irish person born in England while both Irish parents are on holidays? Does the North count?
You should have your dole cut off if you concieve a child while both partners are on social welfare

Accidents happen, so that'd be very harsh considering that they would have to go to England for an abortion.
everyone coming into the country should adapt to the irish way of life

    As in..?
Should they all become farmers? Alcoholics? Junkies?
only let skilled immigrants in and only if they have a job waiting, if they get sacked they have 3 months to find a job or go home

our borders should be almost entirely closed untill we get to less than 10% unemployment

    Don't disagree, tbh.
all drugs should be legal and taxed

    Even heroin, crack and meth?
people who take heroin, cocaine, crack or meth should not be entitled to healthcare unless they can pay for it , and should not be entitled to social welfare.

    Agreed, somewhat.
I should be allowed to kill(if they have a weapon) or severely injure(if they dont) anyone who breaks into my house or attempts to steal my car etc... even if it means following them away from the scene, reloading, going back and getting the lads and going to their gaf

If they come into your house and the surrounding areas, yes. But going to get "the lads" to chase them is just silly, tbh.
people on social welfare shouldnt be allowed access to cash, should be banned from buying drink, smokes , holidays, concert tickets, etc..

Say a husband and father loses his job, his family shouldn't be allowed any entertainment? Very harsh, tbh, especially the innocent people that lost their jobs and are searching for one.
the price of cigarettes should go back down to a fiver

    No.
off licences should allowed be 24 hours as should pubs and clubs.

So much extra disorder would happen, the Gardaí work would be multiplied instantly.
the seanad should be abolished , the county councils made smaller and most of the civil servants sacked, make the goverment smaller and outsource everything to the more competetive private sector

    Meh.
remove all this carbon tax lark off fuel and make it cheap again.

    Is this viable?
if a foreign person is found begging they should be deported straight away.

    Not entirely against this either.
Isreal should be leveled and turned into a large area of scorched earth that can be used by nobody. all its people told to cop the fúck on and stop being racist, terrorist biggots.

    Yes, because that makes sense.
men always make better employees unless its waitressing or behind a bar/on tv trying to get punters to buy stuff.

    That's untrue, tbh. Teachers? Secretaries?
really really over the top flambouyant men and really butch women (who often happen to be gay) bring all the abuse on themselves and deserve the non violent aspects of it.

Not a fan of them, but that's harsh.
90% of people in trinity doint arts, politics or economics are wánkers

    Can't comment.
the age of concent should be 16 for both genders , but if a person under 16 but over 13 engages in sexual contact with somebody under the age of 20 it shouldnt be illegal either

A 14 year old and a twenty year old riding? That's sick, tbh.
abortion should be legal and available for whatever reason aslong as you pay for it , but if you have more than 1 a psycological assesment and some serious contraception councilling should be given

    Agreed.
all churches/mosques/whatever should all have a massive warning label outside like on smoke packets only saying "none of this has been in any way proved, we dont reccomend believing it

    Childish, tbh.
travellers should have the law more heavily enforced on them and their children taken away if they dont go to school.

    Can't disagree.

    That was kinda fun, tbh.:pac:

A lot of athetists/agnostics/non-religious folk are only that not because they have sat down and thought out the metaphysical ramifications of their believes but because they think they are "cool" for being so, and thus are, in my eyes, equally as idiotic as hardcore religious folk.

Eduction is severly underappreciated in this country which has also widely contributed to Ireland's problems.

Teachers are constantly attacked on a variety of issues despite having one of the most important jobs; they should be paid far more than they are since they are supposed to be educating our children to get them prepared for life after school. Teachers shape the countries future yet are looked down on and attacked. If you cut money, you lower the standard of educated person you get into the position, which hurts education as a whole. (that said, teachers should be under constant reviews on many levels and should only keep their jobs if they are good at it).

College is seen as a drink and party fest and not as an important step towards getting a job. Considering how awesome Ireland is with regards its grants and fees, people should be thrilled to get the opportunity to go to third level. Instead, many feel entitled to it and thus piss their education away.

Finally, its the well educated which we are kicking out of our country, despite the fact those are the people we need to get it back in shape. A time will come in ten years where all our most important positions are either not filled or filled by foreginers and people will complain about how shoddy services are, unwilling to accept it was their attitudes towards emigration that caused those problems. We live in a society where the educated are mocked and punished for working hard, while those who never work are rewarded expotentially, and then we wonder why out government and public systems are in disaray.

What?! Teachers are exceptionally well paid in this country. The hourly rate for a graduate teacher starting out would give them an annual salary of €60,000 if the worked a normal year (9 to 5 with 21 days holidays). If we want to improve our education system we can start by changing the outdated holiday entitlements they have (the long holidays were originally given to allow children to help their parents with the harvest - something which we have moved on from). Teachers should be running summer schools, and after school clubs as part of their job. All our expensive education infrastructure is lying idle for almost half the year!

    Marmite is lovely
Chris De Burgh had some good songs at the start of his career
Catherine Thomas is gorgeous in jeans and a t shirt but yuck dressed up. And her eye brows are weird.
The ukulele is a fine and noble instrument and should replace the harp as our national symbol
Willow was much sexier than Buffy
Mayo has the best scenery in the country
Many English accents are like nails down a black board
Beamish and Murphys are both much nicer than Guinness.

Will think of more later. Im full of them, totally ostracised from society as a result, but dont care:) Im getting worse every day.

Referring to any sporting you follow as "we" is utterly ridiculous and idiotic.
This is prevalent in G.A.A. and rugby but is an epidemic in soccer. You can find lads from Kinsale to Letterkenny talking about how "we" (Manchester United or Liverpool usually) are going to hammer Wigan at home next weekend etc.

Unless you actually play on the team or manage the team then referring to the team as "we" is stupid and wrong.

I just find how some of my friends refer to a soccer team from an English city they've either never been to or only been to on a handful of occasions is moronic.

Eastern European girls are VERY overrated, and quite easy too. Their culture appears to be quite old fashioned in that their main aims are: look good, cook well, work hard. Nothing wrong with that...there's just very little else going on there from what I've found. They live to serve, not challenge or inspire, men.

I look at a gorgeous woman, hear the accent and immediately lose all interest. The only girls of theirs I've EVER been remotely attracted to are the rare few who embrace Irish culture head on. ok rephrase it to born of irish parents and having irish citizenship

they would have to go to England for an abortion.

not if my reccomendation below was used

    As in..?
Should they all become farmers? Alcoholics? Junkies?

speak english or irish only when in the workplace, pubs etc even to people from their own country working there, dont open up their little shops that make irish people feel unwelcome etc...

    Even heroin, crack and meth?
yeah, if theyre legal they can be controlled, you could get them but you have to go looking , wouldnt be advertised or suggested to you , takes scumbag dealers out of business, lessens the risk of people under 18 coming into contact with these drugs, people looking for a hit could be suggested to try something less addictive like cannabis, extacy or a legal high by the shop assistant first.

Say a husband and father loses his job, his family shouldn't be allowed any entertainment? Very harsh, tbh, especially the innocent people that lost their jobs and are searching for one.

what was the mother doing ? can she not still pay for that ? , the dole is necessary for survival , not living

So much extra disorder would happen, the Gardaí work would be multiplied instantly.
im saying could open 24 hours , not all would, but it would be nice to find a pub I could go to till 6am and get a normal bus home, obviously bouncers letting in people too drunk would have to be stopped but it would be better than throwing thousands of people onto our streets at 2.30am

    That's untrue, tbh. Teachers? Secretaries?
secretaries , yes ill agree, primary school teachers ill agree, secondary school - male teachers are far better (in my experience anyway)

A 14 year old and a twenty year old riding? That's sick, tbh.
    i said under 20 , a 14 year old and 19 year old , 5 years , not much wrong there , would it be weird for a 20 and 25 year old ?

    replies :D

IMO Polish women are VERY overrated, they look like Irish women but are usually in better shape. The trouble is that people see a beautiful Eastern European girl and think "She must be Polish". Eastern Europe does not equal Poland.

IME women from Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuanian, Estonia, etc, etc are usually much better looking then Polish women, but Irish people just lump them all into the same category, which is lazy and convenient I suppose.

When it comes to women I'd go for ANY other nationality over Irish in a heartbeat as their is a vastly superior choice compared to what you have to accept on this island.

Far too many people go onto third level education, and it's now the "done thing". College isn't seen as a place to learn by most, and a lot of time and money is wasted on people who spend 90% of their time at college drunk and skipping lectures.

There should be child free restaurants/areas, and child free public transport (obviously running as well as the standard public transport where you can bring kids) would be a dream come true.

    Abortion should be legalised.

    Euthanasia should be legalised.
