I've made €390,000 in the last 15 years by only spending half the amount I actually wanted to spend on coke and hookers.

When I was very little I loved scratch-cards. I never really won anything except
another 'free scratch-card'. They were fun for a 5 year old though.

The only time I won anything was after winning nothing on the card my mom had just bought me, then I left and walked a few yards down the street, saw a used scratch-card on the ground, picked it up (it had already been scratched) to see that whoever had dropped it would have won something like £2 (I think it was more or less the price of another ticket?).

I ran right back to the shop, claimed my cash prize, bought another scratch-card and won nothing.

I have no idea if this really relates to the post but my point is they're a waste of money and I should have kept my £2 instead of gambling it all away :(

There was one 3euro set I won on constantly... Must have won something 80% of the time. Then they disappeared all too quick, lost my luck and never went back.

awaiting a response from lottery headquarters regarding why they will not pay money for a win instead of a bloody scratchcard. the scratchcard should be nullified from the lottery so I will see what their response will be. :D

I wonder if the mods can add a poll here, for who wants the scratchcard removed from the Irish lottery or not ?. would be interesting. I think this is a very valid request...?

well here is the response from lotto headquarters... bull**** I say.

    Dear zenno

Thank you for your email and I appreciate your comments regarding scratch card prizes in the Lotto Plus games.

Surveys conducted on behalf of the National Lottery gave us feedback that increasing the number of winners was something players could get excited about. Therefore, in November 2006 the National Lottery introduced a new Match 3 prize category with a guaranteed prize of €1 scratch card in the Lotto Plus 2 game, €3 scratch card in the Lotto Plus 1 game and €5 in the Lotto game, this greatly increased the number of modest winners in the game. The scratch card prizes in the Lotto Plus games gives players a further opportunity to win an instant cash prize or the possibility of being drawn to be a participant on our weekly television game show.

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your comments, which are greatly appreciated, and I hope you will continue to play and enjoy National Lottery games in the future.

    Kind regards

I buy the occasional "All Cash" card and seem to have pretty good luck on them. Lotto is for people who think lots of money will make them happy.

ok i'm a fool for punishment. I have being doing the same lotto numbers for 15 years now and the most I ever won was €46 also I have won about forty €3 scratchcards in this time maybe more and only once won €4 on them.

as far as I know it is a one in five win on the €3 scratchcards so how the hell have I only won once out of over 30 3 euro cards. does anyone else here do these €3 scratchcards and how do you fare ?.

also the whole point of doing the lotto is to win money as you are paying money to win money not a scratchcard. the lotto heads should remove this scratchcard scam immediately imo. what are your thoughts on this illegal scratchcard scam ?. one in five wins my arse and I have just proven it. :pac::pac::pac:

    :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

1 in 5.1 cards have a win, however, thinking you'll win once every 5.1 times is infact a very human mistake to make, I think it's called the gambit fallacy but I might be wrong.

These are the sort of people who think if you flip a fair coin and it comes up heads then tails is more likely to appear on the second flip.

    Gawd bless em.

They say "1 in 5 wins", what that really mean is "4 out of 5 loses". It's all in the emphasis.

I scratch them cards at the till 99% of the time I win 4 or 8 euro
I dont collect the winnings it goes straight back onto quickpicks I want to
win the lotto not a scratchcard

I bought a €3 scratchcard yesterday for the first time in years. I won €6. Sad thing is, I will probably leave it in my bag for ages and then lose it before claiming...

99 percent of the time you win 4 or 8?

    Nice. What shop is this?

odds of getting no winner in 30 is 800/1, not sure the odds for 1 in 30, unlikely, but not impossible.

    It'd be around 100/1.

I think you may be exaggerating your win percentage a tad there. If your winning 99% of the time, why dont you keep buying the cards? Its free money.

I bought 30 €2 all cash cards one time as a test to see how much could be got from winnings. I scratched all 30 and won nothing :( it was the last time I bought one. I did however go to buy one and the person in front of me bought a card and scratched it there and then and won 5k, thinking I wouldn't win after that I decided against buying one, two mins later the woman behind me had another big win 10k!!! The chances of two winners like that together must be 1 in a million!! I wasn't too bitter the woman behind me really needed the money so it was spent on worthwhile stuff and made a difference in her family's life, not blown on ****e like I'd have done :)

Its a way to get new people hooked on scratchers. Can no one see that?
They sell best in poorer areas. Saw a beggar buy them nce / scratch / return to begging outside this news agents as he won 0. One of the saddest things Ive ever seen. I hate scratchers because of that. At lease with the lotto you have to wait to see if you have won. With scratchers its instant gratification / thrill.

If you ask the shops to give Lotto winnings in cash instead of the stupid cards they do.

Actually if the customer in front of you wins then it only slightly lessens your own chances of winning.

I have 3 questions .. I bought 4 winning streaks, 2 the other day and 2 today. I've 3 envelopes now to send away with 3 stars :D

Q.1 What's the deal about posting them? Does it matter? If I miss this week's draw will it go in next week instead?

Q.2 Someone told me they narrow it down to 100 winners and that's what Marty and Catherine pick from on the show .. and you're contacted if you make it in to the final 100?

Q.3 Will I post the 3 of them together or post 1 each week? :D:D

Maybe I'm over thinking this!! :D:D:rolleyes::rolleyes:
