Have you witnessed much trouble in the place? If so can you specify what it was and what made it unique to that pub in comparison to all the other pubs in the country? Thanks.

Gardaí are investigating an armed robbery and a fire at The Players Lounge in Fairview, Dublin.

A gang of four men, one armed with a handgun, entered the premises shortly after 2am and tied up the manager.

They took a substantial amount of cash from the safe. A fire then broke out.

It is not clear whether it was accidental however gardaí are treating it as suspicious.

Extensive damage was caused to the lounge area of the pub.

The scene has been preserved for forensic examination.

    Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

The herald ignored the whole extortion thing at the time because the players lounge took out big advertisements in the paper.

Because I don't see why you are so passionate about your defence of the proprietors of this establishment, even to the extreme that you would call complete strangers on the internet "fools" because they disagree with your point of view.

What is it you're not telling us The Bolt............ if that IS your real name?

I'm sure they'll pick out the robbers in an ID parade. Said parade to be held tomorrow morning in the bathroom mirror.

Hopefully it'll be back open soon. Always a good spot for a pre or post match pint being so close to Croke Park. Never witnessed any trouble or "scumbags" in there in the 15-20 times I was there.

Make sure you bring you stick and guide dog next time

so what the guy goes out of his way to let people know where his bar is and just as its getting well known he burns in down only to move somewhere different and start the process all over again, yeah right i can see the logic.

No one said he was clever

I bought a scratch card from the bar man in that kip one night before, scratched off three hurling sticks, next thing I know, dragged out back and had four different colours of shiite beaten out of me!

It has not been a good week for the Bolt with court outcomes and fires. I hope he finds another watering hole soon (and hole it was).
