  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭evosteo

howd ya work that 1 out?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,398 ✭✭✭ormondprop

Work it out backwards, simple way is to follow one shape so in this one follow the bottom left corner which happens to be the blue cross, so when you look at 4312 the bottom left shape moves to the top right, now u need to figure out how to get that shape to the top 2nd from left, as thats where that shape needs to end up, so u look at the patterns again to see which moves a shape from bottom right to top 2nd from left and its 4312 again

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,401 ✭✭✭evosteo

    1234 C
    rbyg

    4312 ANSWER

    1234 B
    gyrb

    4312 A
    brgy

right i have it at last , you need to go from A to B first. then u need to figure out what code you need to go from C to B and then thats ur answer.

Just after reading through this thread, am I the only one who didn't think to use a calculator doing the tests:eek: Didn't matter either way I got the call for a phone interview but it woulda taken some pressure off!!

Have not heard anything back to be honest I am expecting the ' Thanks for your interest but you have not been selected '.

It was that blooming test, I wasn't expecting it too be so under pressure and the examples I though were at times very confusing!

Bad experiences with them tests in the past and I get nervous when doing them now.

Be interesting to know how many people applied and then how many done the test, as I think a good few people might no have realised there was a test after apply or just seem the test and said phek this !

I did the application at like... 3am after a night out just expecting that to be that. Then I saw the aptitude tests and thought that it had to be done there, ended up finishing at like 5am with all the questions and the application which was quite long in itself. Only had my bleedin phone as a calculator but the math wasnt too tough... what got me was that number/shape section, every time I would get to one asking for 2 answers I would get it wrong and be put back to single answers :(

Just did the phone interview there, went well. Sort of daunting really. The next part (pending I am selected from the phone) is to go in and actually work on stuff for the day. Then they select people from that and do a one on one interview. Very long process but worth it, if I get one of the 50 places.

It was actually a private number. I normally dont answer private numbers but the call came at the exact time they had arranged to call me.

I did the test over a week ago now, and no call, my hopes are fading fast :(
Can't quite understand how some people get a call the next day for a phone interview and others over a week later.
I think there's a Eircom forum on Boards somewhere, wonder if I could pick their brains and maybe get some info into whats going on.
    :(

    Hi everyone,

Got cal call for the phone interview today. So anyone willing to give any examples of the questions they ask on the phone?

Also I seen someone mention in a recent comment that after the phone interview, the next step would be a day 'doing stuff' anyone know what that involves? Or where can u ask about this stuff etc?

Basically the things which you would be doing within the Modules. Nothing too high tech but stuff you would have to show you have a grasp of. They said that they'd more than likely put people into groups too... which would make sense since it would show how the people are in a team.

just had the call there now, i think it went ok but i was nervous enough doing it, starting salary is 19k a year and will go up in year 2 and again after year 2,
questions asked were about teamwork, examples of problems you've had with customers before,
    what motivates you
why you want to work for eircom,
    stuff like that

yeah 19k a year is your starting salary. Thats 365 per week, but works out at around 300 after tax.

Seriously, poor form dude. Everyone else went in blind including myself. Rookie mistake that may have cost a few of us places.

That's a serious Wall Street attitude to have, if you're the best candidate for the job you'll get it, if not it will go to the best candidate and you shouldn't begrudge that. Also it's only the poxy salary he now knows.

Its a stereotypical phone interview with no suprise questions, everything that was asked is in every phone interview tips article, so if you did any preperation you should have been fine, it would be a rookie mistake not to have done some rrsearch, every question i was asked is in this http://jobsearch.about.com/cs/interviews/a/phoneinterview.htm

Id say eircom will figure out who he is if they have a candidate from north tipp called ormond that comes on the internet and gives away there interview template.

He also gave away some possible questions to most of the other candidates giving them a huge advantage over those that have already went.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 58 ✭✭BlubberyGiraffe

Not that it would be any use to people, but not only were half them questions not asked to me, a ton more were asked. Some very specific.

The questions pertain to your experience and you as an individual. There is also no right way to answer a question. People here could know exactly what they're going to be asked and still make a balls of it.

Plus, there are plenty more rounds before the 50 are chosen.

its eircom not the fbi, and my username has nothing got to do with my real name and i doubt i'm the only person from north tipp who applied, and even if they do see this maybe they'll drop my application or maybe they'll hire me as i'm a team player who helps other people, but i some how doubt either will happen, and anyway its only a phone interview, which is usually just a pass fail process, the real selection is made in the formal interview stage where there is no hiding, and the best candidates for the job will be picked, which i hope to be one of, but if i'm not so what? Something else will come up, so all i can say is best of luck to everyone and may the best man/woman for the job succeed

What about the people who dont get through will they be saying its only a phone interview? Something else will come up you say. Some people want this. Would you not think giving the questions of an exam is an unfair advantage?

I gave examples of four possible questions, i talked to a few of my friends who did it aswell and we were all asked differant questions, i was on the phone for over 20 minutes so i was asked a lot more than four questions so do really believe people are going to fly through the interview now that they know about four questions that mightn't even come up? And they examples i gave are ones that you should always have answers for anyway as they are the most common questions,
Why you want to work for us
    What motivates you
    Problems you've overcome
    Are you a team player

I would have done better if in knew them exact questions, instead of revising 10s of possible questions. You say the best candidate will get the job, clearly if people have questions prepared more than others they will appear to be the best candidate even though no necessarily the case. Would you find it fair if some people in your class were told what leaving cert questions were coming up but you had to prepare for any possibility? The people agreeing with you are the people you helped. Some people.

Anyone who had been to an interview lately will know they always ask these. They're standard HR questions, not state secrets. I knew what i was going to say to these questions because i had been asked them countless times before.

    So to quote;
    "Not big surprise".

to say intelligence and common sense is all you need proves you have a long way to go my friend. Aptitude has a huge part to play and you wont even know if you have it until your on a pole at 3 am in the rain trying to trouble shoot a faulty switch gear...
FYI after speaking to Eircom the fact I have a degree is an advantage...

My dad worked for eircom for 42 years just retired..... He was never up a pole at 3A.M. in the morning dont know what you are going on about.:D I applied about 3 weeks ago and no word back yet.:(
