It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

It has been stated on radio 1 that there are new facts about to emerge about David Norris in the next few hours which are leading to resignations of his key campaign staff.

It must be very serious for his ardent supporters to be resigning and withdrawing support. The wheels are coming off the Norris Wanderly Wagon.

The downfall of a man does not please me. However, I do not think the man was suitable for the presidential office.

Enjoyed volunteering in a small role for the Norris for President campaign. To clarify, in light of new information I am no longer doing so.

@cebyrne hi Claire. Won't be making any comment on it, but I'm sure it will all become clear in time.

One cannot defend the indefensible, and Norris should withdraw from the presidential race now and without any further delay

I agree too. If he is glad that Norris might pill out then so what? That's just his opinion! Get over it!

His ex partner, Ezra Nawi, and man he continues to have a close relationship with was convicted of having sex with an underage Palestinian youth in 1992.

It's good for Ireland that this man has pulled out of the race. What other skeletons would have been found in his closet.

Yeah because it's always the case that a paeodophile's friends and family were aware that they were a paedo.

Norris's relationship was with this paedophile after his conviction. And Norris continues to have a close relationship with this man and regular telephone contact to this day.

That's only coming to light now? Somebody has obviously have been busy digging up the dirt on all aspects of Norris' life.

If only they'd do the same for Gay Mitchell.. I'd say there's some amount of skeletons in his closet.. like that time he missed mass in 1987.

Are you being facetious making inane comparisons with having sex with a child?

This was well known and reported in several Israeli newspapers. Most articles on it were in Hebrew.

Yes, but Norris didn't rape a child.

I'm nearly sure I seen it mentioned somewhere before. It's odd that his campaign team are seemingly stepping down over it only now.

It's not clear, but apparently it is Norris's personal reaction to this and toward his staff over this issue that is causing problems. There should be more clarity in the next few hours.

Plenty of politicians who are still lauded as great ex leaders of this country have plenty of skeletons in their closets far worse than anything that Norris personally has done, and a fair few of those who got state funerals and had loads of nice things said about them after their deaths had done plenty to be vilified.

Seems to have been quite the smear campaign against Norris from day one.

Not so much a smear campaign but nore of a mirror being held in front of the antics of a purpously controversial figure. It was a joke that he was running in the first place in my opinion

Maybe he should come out today and address it and not leave it stew and gather momentum like he did with Liveline

His advisors would tell him to do this.
    Oh wait, they are quitting
