this looks like a good location for beer drinkers or anyone that loves alcohol and it is in the far reaches of space.

    Nope.

Can't beat a good wheat beer.

I wonder how many people on here have never tasted wheat beer.

I've never had wheat beer, actually. I was told I might like it.

I hate the taste of regular beer though. Can't drink it at all. Cider is much nicer.

ahh the problem with cider is it has far too much sugar and can leave your full body in red spots. cider used to be my favourite drink but it can act funny on the brain, can and will cause blackouts if not taken in moderation.

Buy a bottle of Erdinger and put in your fridge for three days or so.

Or try Hoegaarden. Has more of citrusy taste off it.

Give them a shot. You may just be surprised. :)

If you think you'd like a sweeter wheat beer (considering you prefer cider) I'd recommend Franciskaner as a door-opener. Grolsch have a nice wheat beer as well.

Blue Moon might be a way of introducing yourself to wheat beer but that can be almost sickeningly sweet (for a beer).

Other than that you have your old staples Erdinger and Paulaner.

9 - the last 1 is in case you have to count Budweiser and Heineken and that other goats piss that gets passed as beer in this country as "Premium"

Never experienced a blackout from cider, thankfully. The worst thing it's done to me is maybe give a headache or stomachache. Have had much worse experiences from overdoing vodka and wine than cider.

Thanks for the recommendations, I shall keep them in mind. I'm actually going to Beerland (also known as Belgium) for a week or so in September, so I'll hopefully have acquired some sort of taste for the stuff by the time I get back.

I think most of the beers I've tried have been lagers. Maybe it's just lager I don't like.

Anyone who says one beer is of lesser quality than another is just being pretentious. It's p1ss going in, it's p1ss coming out and boy how I love it:D

As the title says, I particularly like cloudy wheaty beer.. especially on a hot Summer's day. Knocks spots of usual Lagers!

So a trappist beer from Belgium brewed by monks to a hundreds of year old recipe is the same as a can of Dutch Gold?

Or a bland mass-produced stout like Guinness has the same depth of flavour as something like O'Hara's?

Rubbish. I like plenty of Irish craft beers, I like the concept of Irish people consuming a quality product that is produced locally by Irish people, generating employment and tasting strongly of that wonderful drink - beer.

If that makes me a beer snob, well then that is what I am.

Don't get me wrong, I've had more different types of beer than you can shake a stick at and there are certainly nicer ones than others. I've visited breweries all over the place, long weekends in Munich and Brussels and I've yet to come across one that I would consider a 'high quality' beverage. Some fine one's but quality compared to say a fine wine/whiskey etc then certainly not.

Horrible ****e that only ladies drink. Gimme a bottle of spirits anytime instead.

So you admit your previous post was completely stupid so? There's no "getting you wrong" involved.

I'd rather be wrong than be a sarcastic pr**k. How does that suit? There's a difference between something tasting nice and being of a certain quality.

    Who's being sarcastic?

    Define quality hotshot.

Well if you were being serious then ironically your statement is moronic. My two posts made a distinction between one thing being nicer than another and something being of a high quality there was no contradiction.
    Define quality hotshot.
    OK then:
    qual·i·ty/ˈkwälətē/Noun
    1. The standard of something as measured against other things of a similar kind; the degree of excellence of something: "quality of life".
    2. General excellence of standard or level

    By comparison:
    nice/nīs/Adjective
    1. Pleasant; agreeable; satisfactory: "we had a nice time".
    2. (of a person) Pleasant in manner; good-natured; kind: "he's a really nice guy".

While some beers are nicer (more pleasant) than others as per my 'don't get me wrong' post there is no beer in my experience that while being considered as a social/relaxing beverage is of a particular high quality (excellence) as per my 'p1ss going in, p1ss going out' post. Catch my drift?

I get what you're saying. You can't appreciate beer and have to resort to an online dictionary to make up for your lack of argumentative skills.

Therefore all beer is of a similar quality and you only enjoy the taste of piss as a social/relaxing beverage. (Sarcasm?)

Another vote for craft and speciality beers here. Once you've got the taste for them you'll never go back. Only main stream beer I can drink is Guinness.
