In my opinion late teens/early twenties is when people would wear a red jean. How many 13 year old boys would you know to have the guts to wear something like that?

Not everyone can wear a skinny and most definitely not a red pair but for those who can, well that's good for them.

Do people distinguish between slim and skinny fit? I tend to wear slim fit since it fits me best but i do get a fair amount of comments from females. Irish girls in particular seem to take offence:confused: I nearly always get ridiculed by at least one girl every night I'm out. It actually surprises me since I do choose slim fit but my clothes are still quiet conservative compared to what younger guys would wear (I'm just 30). I get a lot of my casual and work clothes in Zara or Ted Baker since their clothes fit best hence much of my stuff is dark coloured with a classicial look.

This never happens me in the UK or on the continent and it doesn't seem to bother guys as much. It annoys me since I find it rude and I would probably get lynched if I actually gave an honest opinion on how most girls in Ireland look.

Wear what you like, what you feel looks good on you and what makes you feel comfortable. I wouldn't worry about a bit of banter or slagging from others. If they are being especially negative or critical, it says more about them really. Nothing worse then conforming to mainstream or generic clothes for fear of standing out. You can go out wearing Ben Sherman short sleeved shirts, baggy bootcut jeans and Penneys runners/shoes for the rest of your life and be reassured that no-one will ever comment on what you're wearing but is that what you want?

I'm also just on the other (wrong!!) side of 30 but wear slim jeans mostly but that's because I'm tall and slim and I think it suits my frame better. I do sometimes get comments but they have been complimentary (sure, perhaps others may comment behind my back but that is not something I'm going to worry about). I read one of Paul Galvin's style columns in the Irish Indendent recently and said while he is a champion of skinny jeans, he knew of some guys who loved skinny jeans and would try them on in fitting rooms and like them but not have the guts to buy them for fear of ridicule wearing them in public.

OP - wear what you want to wear but you do need to be comfortable about it. If you're worried about what others think, then you may not be comfortable which defeats the purpose of looking and feeling good.

Really interesting seeing all the different opinions in here.
Personally I like wearing skinny jean.
My OH loves them on me. Get complimented on them all the time.
I am a really skinny guy though.
However even for me I have found some to be too skinny.
One pair in particular were more like tight than jean.
They were bet onto my leg and I had a horrible job getting them off.

Interesting comments here.i actually started a similar thread about skinny jeans.i am all for skinny jeans, then again im very skinny and they suit my build cause i have a skinny leg some say its like a matchstick :D but i wont get into that.

Some say they look to tight,or they should not be worn on me and just for girls.
Well that's a load of nonsense, guys can wear skinny jeans..it does not mean they are part of the hipster crowd.

Might regret saying this but we as a country here are way behind style..men here are still wearing flares for god sake they look RIDICULOUS

But getting away from the point if they work go for them brov

Might i say Topman are a good place to buy skinny jeans

    good luck Mr

Can't believe so many people really dislike them so much! I can't think of any male friend of mine who doesn't wear skinnies!

The proper mens ones are ok.
Too may people think they can get away with wearing the €9 womens ones from penneys with their asses hanging out gangsta style.
My friend has a couple of pairs from Topman and River Island and they're nice on him

Women are very odd when it comes to men's fashion I find. If you have ASOS liked on Facebook go to the men's outfits they put together and mostly all the women commenting are saying something negative.

    I don't get it personally.

Yes, flares look ridiculous, as do skinny jeans. But when these things are in fashion, people wear them regardless. Usually people only realise when they are out of fashion again that they looked ridiculous.

Haha they're very well dressed boys, I assure you! Skinny jeans, nice shirt and a good pair of Chelsea boots :)

I always feel that skinny jeans will never go out of fashion in Ireland because when it rains the ends don't get soaked :pac: :p

Aren't flares back in this season - well certainly for AW?

Yeah, I thought I saw them in the menswear as well - but I only flicked through a couple of things, perhaps it all became a blur :)

OP it shouldn't matter what other people think as long as you think you look good and feel comfortable. I would pity someone who went around in clothes which they were unsure about or uncomfortable in just to please their partner, or worse just to please strangers passing on the street.

If you're pleasing yourself, go for it.

i think skinny or slim fit jeans are most attractive on guys. i personally do not like a boot leg jean at all. i do however think that the majority or irish people have not yet come to terms with a "skinny jean" on guys which is absolutely ridiculous. my boyfriend is english and he only ever wears skinny jeans but when my friends first met him they thought it was a bit weird/that he looked gay and it really annoyed me. i am in my mid 20's though and from what i see skinny jeans are becoming more accepted with teenagers
