Nice haul Keith. Like yourself with the Barcode Battler, I'd have no interest in it per se but they do hold a kind of '90's cultish thing...hard to explain.

The 2600 was a very good price, nice finds.

I was delighted, its the first time ive spotted anything decent at one, a couple of gameboy advances too there but your woman was looking for 25 quid for them!

2600's are great little machines! Nice find! Could I perhaps convince you to part with that extra copy of Phoenix? :D

Defender II is awesome on the 2600, you'll wonder how on earth they managed to get such a great game into the console.
And remember to use a 2nd controller to smart bomb and the like.

Poor pickings today in Balbriggan, got The Lost Vikings for a euro though, Snes format.
    Otherwise bugger all, pity...

Had a mini christmas this morning, Everything seemed to arrive at the same time. I got a few unboxed virtual boy games, Warioland, Galactic Pinball and Teleroboxer. Only paid 15 for teleroboxer. Also got the japanese version of Vertical Force not just boxed but brand new.

Non retro I got Shiren the Wanderer for the Wii, seems to be getting hard to track down, and finally got Mass Effect 2 on the 360.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Computer Games Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators Posts: 34,753 CMod ✭✭✭✭CiDeRmAn

I played Mass Effect 2 almost as a FPS, it was excellent!
The story is great too, but do play special attention to the team members side quests, I let one slide and paid, well technically they paid, later on.
    Best level?
    The Prison.
    Worst?
That fecking nightclub/space station thingy, felt very very derivative of a hundred sci fi games and movies.

I love Mass Effect 2. People who say it's too accessible can **** right back off to their pointless menus and overly complex stats (i.e the bollocks that is Dragon Age). In this case accessibility is a good thing - a very tightly designed game. For the first time in a BioWare game I felt my decisions and actions had a tangible, interesting impact on the way the game played out. In a year when people were going mad about how the overrated Heavy Rain changed interactive storytelling, it was only Mass Effect 2 that had gameplay and interactive narrative combine into one excellent whole.

Oops I meant I paid only 15 for warioland. Also forgot to mention I got warioland 4 for GBA from rage as well. Going to have to stop buying this for a while though.

You filthy pig, I wanted that but was too lazy to pop in the weekend:(

Despite asking for Dragon Quest DS advice last week, I ended up picking up Chrono Trigger for DS instead. I never played it before but seeing it on nearly every top 10 games ever list has me thinking I should check it out. Plus it appears to be a hard enough game to track down on DS.

I'm mid-way through a professor layton game atm so i'll finish that first and move onto my new game afterwards.

You didn't do too badly then. Chrono Trigger is arguably the best JRPG ever made up there with those Dragon Quest games. It's also a colaboration between the creators of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy so you'll be getting a bit of Dragon Quest anyway :)

    Its cool.
Just remember, it's wrong to go around taking other peoples stuff.
That Link fella must have a set of ASBOs as long as your arm, all the chests and pots he finds lying around, before rifling through and fecking off with the contents...
Hello Deku tree, yes I'm from the gas company, just checking the location of all your valuables so I can sneak in later and rob you blind!

I finally bought ME2 arrived today in the post, paid the princely sum of 9 euro delivered for it new and sealed :)

I think i got it for 3euro delivered off gamestop when they where doing those deals a while back, its still in the plastic.

Couldn't find a retro game shop in Chicago. The one I had planned to visit was aeons away so unfeasible to visit.

I did pick up an Apple TV and a Wacom Bamboo +Touch pad though while in the USA.

Also had a stack (literally) of PC Engine and NTSC-J PS1 titles arrive. And my XE-1 HE Pro arrived! :D

Today these cute little buxom pups were waiting for me on my desk to help beat away those pesky 'back to work blues':

    KQX9q.jpg

DoDonPachi and Nights have SC-OCD. Not checked Layer Section yet, it might have SC-OCD. More pics later (when I've fought off the jetlag!) and when I've cello wrapped them up!

Oh and before I forget, I've a Virtua Stick Pro on the way to me too, as well as Le Mans (BD) and Akira (Steelbook BD). Was gonna get them here but the Akira price was ridiculous in-store.

It's worth slogging through the first game before you start - just to see the little effects your decisions in part one had on the second. Second is a much better game - with less elevators! - but they work surprisingly well together.

I started playing the first one years ago alright, but to be honest with work and two kids i didnt have the time to put into it and its not the type of game you can play for half an hour every night. I still have it, might get around to it in about 16 years when they are old enough to go out drinking!

I know the feeling, hell I'm unemployed and still have a backlog I'll never get around to!

Some day Little King's Story will be removed from the plastic, some day!

I might suggest that those with the means pick up the game PewPew for Android phones, not sure if it's available for that apple thingy.
It a very nice and smooth variant of Geometry Wars and, aside from the usual screen joystick woes, is most impressive.
    Robotek is interesting as well.
    And both free!
    Happy days!

My cheapo Samsung smartphone doesn't have multitouch so playing Pew Pew on it is the equivalent of playing an FPS with a guitar controller!
