If we conquered Iceland before they got involved, they'd be powerless to do anything as our Navy would control the North Atlantic shipping lanes from our new Icelandic bases. The US lost alot of men and shipping during the Battle of the Atlantic and would not take the risk of engaging our surface fleet for fear of heavy casualties.

Who are you kidding? Celtic jerseys are like knacker uniforms. They all have one. while some might not be regular folk, the general demographic of people that wear them are the kind of people you cross the road to avoid. And as for a fail... surely suggesting a Scottish team winning a soccer championship to restore national pride of Ireland is a bigger fail!

You must be joking? a single US Fighter plane would destroy our entire navy, we dont have the ability to shoot them down!

I'm pretty sure Stovelid was being satirical/sarcastic by saying that. And yes, lots of scummers wear Celtic jerseys. They also wear Liverpool and United jerseys though. It doesn't automatically mean that anyone who supports those teams or wears the jerseys are scumbags. Although it does suggest that they lack style or individuality.. like anyone who proudly wears the strip of a sports team they support.

We have some AA guns left over from WW2, we can mount them on our ships and that will take care of the USAF.

It's just a sports top worn by many ordinary everyday folk in their leisure time which has being adopted by many scummers ( who wouldn't know offside from their arse ) as their badge of honour but the guy who goes abroad on holiday and wears his Liverpool ,Man Utd ,Celtic etc top every day for the whole week or two is definitely lacking in style .

Nah, not at all. What's the worst that can happen? The entire world (with notable exceptions) is so far in debt, that all you can do is laugh about it. We're all going to default at some time & we'll be back to bartering & the sun will still set & rise.

Should we do a kind of 5 year trial where each province aligns itself to another country / state and then we get vote for which works out the best.
Ulster is already aligned to Sterling and the queen. Leinster can stick with the Euro and be a member state of the EU to see how all that goes down. Munster can take on the dollar and boost relations with the US. via Shannon, and the Wesht can partner up with China. Have the schools teaching Chinese, set up some business parks etc. The four province plan is the way to go. The dail can feck off and each province is to steer it's own ship for the five years. Surely one of em is going to prosper and then we can vote for the common good. Or else we get a big saw and chop the country into four and stick with our ally.
