What is going on with Aer Lingus eh!

07.05 flight Monday a.m Dub to Berlin, had checked in online, went to drop bag and was then told flight is actually departing from Terminal 1 NOT 2, despite it clearly showing departure as Terminal 2 on the tickets.

Just be aware people and allow yourself time for this.

Aer Lingus - get your departure terminals correct please to avoid confusion for people when travelling, really in this day and age you should be able to sort it out. GET IT SORTED. It's idiocy telling people they are departing from t2 and then telling them they have to walk to t1.

Had we not been told terminal 2 for departure we'd have gone straight to terminal 1 for bag drop and departure.

In the mornings and the evenings some EI flights arrive/depart at Pier B in T1.

This is because not enough stands with US arrivals and all aer lingus departures. At nights the stands beome full for aircraft in the mornings and some arrive in Pier B.

Aer Lingsu said that some flights would depart from Pier B. The walk is no longer to Pier B than the very last gatw of Pier E.

The airline is advising all departing passengers travelling to these destinations to present at Terminal 2 for departure.

That is correct, you do everything in T2 before walking to Pier B. Next time fly Ryanair to Berlin and then you will be giving about the LONGER WALK.

Just be aware people and allow yourself time for this.

All passengers should allow 90 mins to clear the airport. 2 hours would be advised in the mornings (6 - 8)

The Berlin flight must always leave from the same gate! Cause i had the same experiance last week goin to Berlin! Its not really lies though is it? Its simple
Check-in T2
Security T2
Shopping(if you want to buy somthing) T2
Cafe(if you want to eat) T2
Boarding(for a small number of flights) is in the old gates!

Wheelchair bound had leg amputated last year. Thanks for your comments.

BTW i dont think Aer Lingus allow you to checkin or drop you bags at T1 ! All of their operation is through T2 now except when T2 gates are all being used and they use the old ones like we experienced!

Crazy stuff, it's simple to get it right but alas it's Aer Fungus so....

You not deparing from T1 you are departing from Pier B. You are doning everything in T2 except boarding the aircraft. Pier E you are not departing from T2, it is just joined to T2.

Dublin Airport is all Piers.

Fair point but it's not an excuse for Aer Fungus to give their "customers" incorrect information.

Because you are departing from T2 weather it is Pier E and B.

All of Aer Lingus baggage handling and check in is done in terminal 2. That is what dictates that you present yourself there for check in. They do not have check in facilities in T1 any more.

The walk to Pier B from T2 departures is about equal distance as the furthest gate on the T2 pier (gates 4xx) and is certainly shorter than that from T1 departures to the furthest gate on pier D (gates 1xx).

Several late night arrivals and early morning departures of Aer Lingus short haul services have to use pier B as there are insufficient gates at T2 when the early transatlantic arrivals come in.

This practice is quite normal - Copenhagen airport operates it for example. Centralised check in and depart from one of the linked terminals. At the end of the day does it really matter that much? You find out what gate your flight leaves from at/after check in - that is standard the world over.

Operationally, totally different flights could leave from pier B each day - that is another reason why you present yourself at one location.

The piers are separate from the terminals. Pier B is not part of T1, and neither is Pier E part of T2. Technically an airline can have check-in done through T2 and boarding from Pier D.

So Aer Lingus didn't lie to you. You checked-in and cleared security in T2.

You have checked in through T2 for your flight and departed through the boarding gates 300(used to be pier b) If you had of arrived at the 300's you would have picked up your bags in T2 baggage hall and exited through T2 arrivals,its no more than a 5-10min travel time from T2 shops to 300 Gates,ALL gates 400,300,200,100 are interconnected,just look at T2 and T1 as two ques to get your business done,which makes it quicker,less people and more pleasant rather than having everyone bunched into the one big que,simples

This is a non issue. Yes of course it would be nice if they could have all flights depart from the T2 pier but this just isn't possible. Besides it states to present yourself in T2 and all ops will be done there. It does not state that you will arrive/depart from a T2 pier gate.

The walking distance from the main area of T2 to the last gate on the T2 pier is the exact same as the walk to Pier B and a good bit shorter than the T1 walk to Pier D.

And disabled passengers can request assistance and they can be driven to their gate on a cart. Again not an issue.

I work in DUB and I agree that this is a non issue. I see the transatlantics pull out every day to be replaced by afternoon EI planes for European destinations, remember that each heavy takes up enough space for two medium airliners, so once they're gone a lot of space is freed up for Aer Lingus commuters.

As for wheelchair services, the OCS bunch deal with it all over the airport as far as I know, and while (also AFAIK) the moterised carts can't be used in some parts of the airport, they will be happy to push you by chair all the way to the gate. It's part of the service, so sit back & relax!
