Seen in Meilenwerk in Berlin a few weeks ago:

and a few more awaiting repairs or restoration, nice temporary repair on the 2CV roof. :)

A Hanomag-Henschel F25, which later became the Mercedes 206, then the Mercedes 100, still earning its keep as an advertisement truck. Hanomag-Henschel was brought up by Mercedes in the early 70's, the experience they got here helped them with the introduction of the Merc 207-310 van series (now the Sprinter).

1938 Maybach SW38, 3.8l, 6 cyl, ca 140 bhp. Maybach built about 2000 cars between 1921 and 1941 but only about 150 survived the war as a lot of them were "commandered for the war effort" by higher officers in the Nazi party and the Armed Forces.

Anyone know anything about this Alfa? Is it a bodykit off a tuner such as Zender or is it a factory special?

Agreed, very special - the Skoda of the rich. Although I would have been happy to see a Jowett Javelin too!

And not only that, it's rear engined!!

Nice spot with the Tatra, very rare, probably the most advanced car of the late 40's. Its a 600 alright but the engine is actually a 4 cylinder, 2l, but it is aircooled. The car that came after it, the 603 is the one that had the aircooled 2.5l V8 (I had one years ago ;)) The 603 is the one with the three headlights at the front.

Saw this Fulvia today, looks like its been parked up for a while judging by the chock on the front wheel, exhaust was literally dragging on the ground.

YES! I guessed right for once.
Although I didn't know that it was a T600 or any of the other stuff mentioned about it.:o

It's so easy to forget what a great bit of design the Fulvia Coupé was. They were very expensive, but IMO worth every last penny.

Why so Anan? Do you just mean the styling or were there some interesting ideas under the hood?

Not just the styling, although I think they were beautiful. Above all, they were cars designed and built by engineers - people who didn't care about cost, but wanted to do it right. There was a purity of thought and purpose there that we don't really see any more.

Yeah, sadly these days everything - not just motors - seems to be about the bottom line and nothing else.

I suppose the sad truth is that attempts by companies to do things the way Lancia did up to the 60s are ultimately doomed to failure - despite consistent cost cutting from the Series 1 onwards, the Fulvia ended up bankrupting Lancia. On which subject, I saw a lovely Lambda in Sandycove on Bloomsday - I don't suppose anyone got a pic?

I didn't have my camera with me but I did get to speak to the owner who was heading away on holidays for the weekend in his MINT 1971 Transit V4 crew cab with a nice caravan in tow behind him

Very cool stuff, the van was a fire station vehicle in Germany and has only 20k kilometers from new

Would love if someone gets a snap of it

Great pics Dazza, haven't been to Goodwood for 15 years, must make a serious effort next year!

Love the 250 GT Lusso, that car shows up at shows and races all over the globe and nice to see the old master himself still getting out and about at 81.

Its fantastic iv'e never been so close to racing drivers and rare car before, the only problem is you can't see everything in two days, maybe four days next year :P

I can't recommend Goodwood enough, camping there really tops it off. I haven't been able to go since '09 but we are planning a road trip next year. And yes you do need more than two days!

I've just been reading up a bit on that car here and here, seems its 1 of 18 ever built though of the 18 there seems to be a couple of different headlight designs. Crazily fast car for its time.

    engine90 Degree V8
    valvetrain DOHC
    displacement 1995 cc / 121.7 in³
    bore 78 mm / 3.07 in
    stroke 52.2 mm / 2.06 in
    compression 10.0:1
    power 171.5 kw / 230.0 bhp @ 8800 rpm
specific output 115.29 bhp per litre
    bhp/weight 402.1 bhp per tonne
    torque 187 nm / 137.9 ft lbs @ 7000 rpm
    weight 572 kg / 1261 lbs
    wheelbase 2350 mm / 92.5 in
    front track 1349 mm / 53.1 in
    rear track 1445 mm / 56.9 in
    length 3970 mm / 156.3 in
    width 1709 mm / 67.3 in
    height 991 mm / 39.0 in
    top speed ~260 kph / 161.6 mph

Interestingly Alfa gave 5 chassis to different coachbuilders who drew up their own concepts of the car, this is what they looked like, some details are familiar as they were later used in production cars.

    Pininfarina Prototipo Speciale

    fs_206_dino_pininfarina_prototipo_speciale.jpg

And the Pininfarina Cuneo, they probably used the chassis for the Sport Roadster above to build this one.

The Iguana was a one off by Ital Design (essentially Giorgetto Giugiaro), though the Iguana later influenced the Maserati Bora and Merak.

And not only that, it's rear engined!!

Apparently the car was responsible for the premature deaths of quite a few Nazi officers who liked to commandeer a nice car but weren't familiar with the way rear-engined cars can leave the road backwards at speed....
