Hang on now, I can comfortably fit into age 14 jeans from H&M. And no it's not entirely because of my short stature!

I was too young to own a NES! It's shameful, but at least I have the excuse I would potentially have just drooled all over it, unlike certain other retr0 gamers around here (no-names mentioned) :P Actually, an older cousin lending us his NES - with, I recall, Duck Hunt - was one of my earliest gaming memories, next to Sonic 2 in my slightly less older cousins' house.

Also, just to weigh in on the argument from a page or two back, hooked up my fightpad to give Jamestown a go and it was more than serviceable for that function. I actually quite like the D-Pad!

    Megadrive/Snes carts?
    Maybe even NeoGeo MVS carts?

    What madness is this?

You know you are getting old now when a retro gamers first machine was a 360, DS or worse again, a V-Tech Smile!

You do know that there are VCR based consoles. Just a few lightgun games on them and awful rubbishg but they do exist.

Well now you are also showing your age. Unless you wanted to be an outcast then you didn't own a NES. Everyone in Ireland and most of Europe had a C64, ZX Spectrum or an Amstrad if you were unlucky :P The NES only became kind of popular when the price of the machine crashed during the 16-bit era when poor families that couldn't afford a SNES or Megadrive would buy the kids a NES instead. I'd feel sorry for those kids but at the time my parents were so poor that I was left with a C64 until Christmas 1993 :( In fact you'd be more likely to find a master system in someones house than a NES.

I find the fight pad servicable for most 2D games but it's no arcade stick or the glorious MK1 microsfot sidewinder I used to use (wish I could get this working on a new machine). The problem comes when you need a lot more precision like in a fighting game were it totally fails to register commands on the d-pad, such as doing a fireball I found I had to press up into the diagonal up position before it would register.

So, that makes you still an outcast then! :p
Or are you a rebel, living on the edge, refusing to conform???
    Rebel without a Nes perhaps??

And Kerbdog was in a similar situation, folks got him a 2600jr when the rest of the planet was playing Nes, he got an Amiga from me, back in the day, and the rest is history, when he rules the solar system with an iron fist he'll have the video toaster logo on the side of his ships and I'll be blamed....

I fancy renaming Ireland "Halo-land" just because, assuming he lets me have this country after the fall....

The GBA really is one of the best little formats out there, the GBA SP is a almost perfect little console, only the screen lets it down, and only in retrospect, we were breathless after playing the GB, GBC and GBA then seeing the clear lit screen of the SP, but the subsequent GBA Micro left us reeling, only the little seen (no pun intended) AGS-101 fixed it AND I WANT ONE!
But it's a cracking console, more than just a mini Snes, so many great games, sure Advance Wars alone would keep me entertained for hours!

GBA was far more powerful than the SNES was. Great console with some great games.

Just got some more virtual boy games. I have a problem. I really want jack bros as well.

Any VB recommendations ciderdude that aren't Mario Tennis, Warioland, Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, Red Alarm or Vertical Force?

Whats that king of the Zoo game like, I've never heard of it.
Love the GBC though it lacks the library of the original it still has one or two gems and is a must have for GB fans

Its good, but not great... Its a port of Penguin Wars, an old arcade game.
Its a game where you have to throw balls at the other animal in a sort of messed up dodge ball match
    weird and wonderful :D
where can I buy gbc games in an actual shop?

    The cost

Edit, its also too mainstream for him. He'd also prefer a Famicom for all those extra chip games that he'd never be able to play (japanese). So there...three valid reasons why Retr0 is the man who bought a Ferrari before he had a Micra.

The Rage on Fade Street is the only real place to get GB games. You should try car boot sales and the like aswell as fleabay

When those all arrive I'll literally have 30% of the entire VB library :) I might go for a complete set! There's only 20 games.

    Not unless it's 60 Hz :P

I'll get one eventually but at the moment I've not got the room and feel that I should be spending what little money I have right now catching up with DS games I missed. NES games aren't getting anymore expensive.

    Also I've a Clio not a Micra :P

TBH, I'd be more likely to get a Famicom before I get a NES.

No but there's no way I'm playing the non japanese version of Castlevania 3! Haven't any carts but when I do start buying games a few will be US and Japanese.

Also forgot one other minor detail. My mam said that if anymore videogame 'shit' arrives in the house she'll throw me out for wasting my money. I've got Mass Effect 2 and 4 virtual boy games all arriving seperately. I think a NES will be the be pushing it too far especially after she flipped over the Virtual Boy.
