Tonight @ 9pm, BBC1 NI.
They've been flogging the ad for this for a fortnight now, looks worth watching.

Check out the replica road hole bunker - I'd need a shovel to get a golf ball out of there!

Considereing it took me three attempts to get out of a far tamer bunker than that at St Margaret's today - I reckon I'd just pick the ball up ad put it in me pocket if I ended up in that Road Hole bunker

Really normal guy. I love his confidence in talking about the possibly of winning double digits majors. It makes a change from the carefully trained in media golfers who are afraid to say anything that may be misconstrued.

He's a world ahead of Tiger in Grace and Class.

My God, what a training facility he has in his back garden.

Breath of fresh air alright. Unbelievable setup with all the different types of greens, rough and sand.

Awful amateurish badly made program. It was like watching a poorly edited home movie.
If ‘Senna’, shows how great a sporting documentary can be – this useless pile of twaddle represents the other extreme of the scale.
The only interesting thing in the whole hour was that even the day after becoming a major champion he still had to ‘bitch-up’ and go kiss corporate ass at some cheesy function.

Ok I admit I did not watch the show , I only watched the 2 min clip about the back year on the BBC website.

But over the years I have noticed that BBC NI usually churn out 'folksee', 'colloquial' twaddle, so I am not suprised if this is the same, especially given the short time frame that is was made in.

I'm sure if BBC NI wanted and had the time to make a documentary of the alleged quality of 'Senna' (I have not see it either), then they could do so or commission someone to do so.

Maybe you shouldn't be taking some dude from the Internets opinion. I watched it and I didn't think it was 'twaddle' whatever that word means.

I thought the low production value added to the programme and showed a real insight into behind the scenes for a pro.

Watch it and make your own mind up.

No it wasn't that bad. I thought it quite a good documentary, made in a very short time span. Rory came across very well. Seems like a decent lad with his head well screwed on.

I think it was more a case of "we have all this footage, might as well put something together since he's just gone and won the US Open"!

Fair enough, the production team aren't going to win a BAFTA, but the fly-on-the-wall stuff made it intriguing.

His short game area is outrageous. Invest big, win big I guess.

You seem very quick to resort to name calling in your posts - you should ask yourself why this is - personally I don't think it's necessary in the context of expressing an alternative opinion.
As regards my problems with the documentary – I don’t think it’s acceptable to say ‘well they didn’t have millions to spend to it so it’s all right for it to be a bit rubbish’.
It may have made an interesting 20minute piece on his ‘Major Breakthrough’ but it seemed stretched out to me to fill an hour. Very boring in most parts and no sense of excitement conveyed. Could have been a lot better without spending extra money on it.

You seem to be only one who didn't enjoy it. I'm just taking you up on your point on Senna. That was a big budget documentary for a sporting legend. Maybe in 20 years if Rory has won numerous major's then maybe we might get something similar but golf and F1 are world's apart which is maybe why you enjoyed Senna more.

he's a classy kid alright, i look forward to watching more of him in the future. he obviously was in a state of shock afterwards. gained a lot more respect after he did the golf outing the following day. kudos.

i was gutted when i missed the sky sport special on Open, but i would have been more gutted if i missed this

Jesus I don't think you realize how much $$'s he gets for the ol "bitch up" kissing corporate ass.

It's easy take a production out of context and say it is below par.

It's comparison to "Senna" is also funny. As all the senna footage existed before the documentary was commissioned. Some skillful editing and a decent score was all that was needed to make that film great. Senna's story was already one of the most compelling story's of our time.

Anyway some poorly formed opinion you seem to have their.

Also dose anyone notice whenever Rory McIlroy is on TV things go a bit astray here. :rolleyes:

Think of it more as a ‘descriptive turn of phrase’ – as I said it was the only interesting aspect of the program IMO as it showed the power that the money men have.
It’s hardly the same as personally attacking a poster.
