Fluoridation of Our Water Supply

What is your opinion on this? Most "professionals" are in agreement that it can have detrimental effects for our health, with very few benefits. It's purpose is dental health for teenagers, but it can cause dental fluoridosis (can't remember exact name) and therefore, damage dental health! It is also thought to increase risk of Alzheimer's disease and irritable bowel syndrome, and cancer, to mention but a few.

We're now the only country in Europe to add it to our water supply, which should be an indication of the potential harm it can cause, and it's imported from Spain as a toxic waste product.

I don't know if this is the correct section in which to post this, but I feel it's not just a medical issue. I find it bizarre that this is added to our water with little or no benefits, and huge risks. Our government should consider discontinuing the addition of fluoride to our water now, in my opinion.

    Thoughts?

From a purely engineering point of view, flouride is a toxic by product of industrial production systems. Its dear to get rid of, unless a "use" can be "found". Toothpaste is that "find". Enjoy.

But toothpaste isn't actually consumed, water is. It has no consequences in toothpaste, I think.

I just said that because the term professional is thrown around a bit casually these days. :pac:

absolutly correct, because you spit it "all" out, don't you.
If most people knew the toxic sh1t that is contained in a lot of what we eat, drink and use, they would still not give a damn, because -look, man-u are 2-1 up.

I still get tooth ache if I don't brush my teeth. Ergo, it's not working. Fluoridation is at least a waste of money.

It has no consequence in water either because the amount is a tiny fraction of the concentrate thats in toothpaste, but sure carry on anyway.

Maybe a merge with the CT thread is the best place for this?

Does this Fluoridation cause apathy? Because it might explain how this nation rolls over and takes it up the ass quiet frequently.

Naah, a conspiracy is a strange view held by a few against the opinion of the majority, flouridation of water is a strange practice done by a few(1) against the better judgement of everyone else. Sure it does the poor, dumb paddy kids good - their teeth would all fall out without it. And its not toothpaste we're talking about dummies, its the water, and you drink that, you tend not to spit it out. And your kids drink it, and so don't mine, cos I drilled a well so they wouldn't have to. But then I'm rich, and poison is really only for the lower orders:rolleyes:

I considered that, but it has risen above conspiracy when it has medical evidence to back it.

Anybody who clings to the idea that anything the Irish Govt decides, decrees or insists on is a world beating decision is sorely deluded. Between bailing out the banks and drugging the water with **** everyone else can't get rid of, they really are some bunch of tossers. No doubt a nice kickback is involved somewhere.

Sure isn't chlorine lethal in certain circumstances too, and thats added to water in swimmping pools and stuff.

Maybe it's added to aid dental health because in general, Irish people don't care about it as much as in other countries. Maybe thats to do with the cost of dentists here.

Huh, I had no idea about this. A quick look at wikipedia seems to confirm this. Most countries in europe either never added flouride or ceased years ago. Small amounts of the water supply of Spain + UK have flouride(10%) compared to Ireland (70%+). If it was really as good as we think in Ireland, wouldn't the use be significantly more widespread? I don't like it.

Yeah, its not on death certs much -"died from flouride poisoning". You must be right. Ever wondered if it might cause seemingly unrelated illnesses?? That make people dead??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Link to some of the evidence please. Peer reviewed scientific journals if possible.

Indeed they do. In "poorer areas", to "aid dental health":D You just have to marvel at the innocence thats out there! By the way, anybody worked at any of the "water treatment plants" we have?? I have, and they are total, utter and feckin complete antiques, relics of a bygone age. Them and adding toxins to the water supply,"for our own good". Always worry when somthing is being done "for your own good". It seldom is. Anyhoo, carry on, nobodys going to take this seriously and I don't care, like I said, I drilled a well. Drink up.
edit:tap water kills goldfish yeah? Ye all know this, the kids brought home that fish they won, you popped it in a bowl of the councils best, and it died. Ever wonder why?
