Criminal Action Force - only in Ireland?

After filling up my car with petrol at the garage, I went into pay and as I glanced at the newspaper stand a photo of masked gunmen caught my eye.

On reading the story from the Star(yeh i know and Herald had it also), they had quite a publicity shot for a so called CAF. Like wtf, what kind of message do these thugs send to us? That they fear no-one of course.

This reminds me of the heyday of The General where he setup a similar organisation with a criminal title in its name to counter act anti-drugs marches on crims homes.

Thing is, i've never heard of crims in the UK styling themselves as a paramilitary group, so is it a problem uniquely Irish? :)

AFAIK they're a criminal group out to break the IRA protection rackets on the drug trade.

Also OP, thing is how much do you know about the British crime underworld? This is some typical tabloid bull****, it's not as if the CAF is some serious threat to civil safety. It's nothing more than a fancy name for a new group of criminals who want to take down the IRA protection racket.

It has nothing to do with criminal rights. The General's organization was based against CPAD (Concerned parents against drugs) picketing outside non-drug dealing criminals houses. Ordinary decent criminals as he called them, it wasn't for criminal "rights", it was just to piss off CPAD.

Well, from watching British media from which we have extensive access, i've never seen such a group been formed to stick up for criminal rights!

Maybe the tabloids are exploiting it to sell papers but on past experience of such crim orgs getting publicity(the General's antics), it looks a bit concerning!

We do get a lot of British media here, but very few of them actually focus on the British underworld. Of course you're not going to hear about, can you even name 3 major British underworld criminals of the last decade? Not trying to make you look stupid, just showing an example.

And yes the tabloids are definitely exploiting it, this is nothing more than a bunch of big-headed "gangsters" creating an "action force" to combat other criminals. Basically, it's another gang forming who want to make themselves look important by giving themselves some poxy name. There's a lot more dangerous criminals out there than these lads. And once again as I said, this has absolutely nothing to do with criminal rights.

True, maybe just a publicity stunt for these lowlifes. Says alot of the Irish tabloids giving them the oxygen of publicity, that makes the tabloids culpable to crime in my view.

Tabloids are aweful bastards for this crap. Bunch of fear-mongering assholes trying to make situations seem worse than they are, stretching stories and inventing criminals to sell copies of their tabloid. Wouldn't trust any of the crap they say.

    I agree with this group.
I want to conduct my criminal activities without being hassled by everyone.

To hell with the fact that they have put themselves in the spotlight, thus giving the Gardaí legitimate targets. Fight the power.

Well done for managing to squeeze the IRA into the thread and blaming them. While you're at it, ya might as well blame them also for the crappy weather this summer.

Meanwhile on earth . . CPAD were Concerned Parents against Drugs.

Local republicans did play a role in this community based organisation.

Their goal was to remove known drug dealers (forcefully if required) from deprived areas (with spiralling drug abuse and crime levels).

It was not a republican organisation, if anything it was borderline viginaltism. Aside from an overlap of republicans who were also involved in CPAD it was non affiliated and also very widely popular in more deprived areas at that time.

not republican organisation at first then used the name of the IRA LATER ON if and when required but they where not as bad as republican groups in Dublin going about today it must be said who work hand in glove with the gangs who thay say thay are acting again

The only time I should be seeing or hearing about notorious criminals or criminal gangs should be in headlines like "Famous criminal sent to prison for five consecutive life sentences". The tabloids should be fined for giving these circus clowns publicity.
