While we have started not believing in countries anymore, may I say that I don't believe in France or Germany and their IMF/EU crap.....

Now Serbia are doing it right,

True the song could have come from the 1960s' but it does sound like a foreign language and slavic at that.

Rumour has it that a while back the tourist board there had a catchy marketing plan so that everyone would remember the existance of Serbia. Aparantly it went very well and 1914 was a bumper year for visitors.

Of course Croatia is real. Jim Corr has a holiday home there. Or has he?

Jim Corr was abducted and probed by Croatians from Space. Allegedly.

It's as real as North Dakota or Roscommon.

I don't. The only time you ever hear about the place is when that Eurotripe song contest comes on. So I simply refuse to acknowledge that it exists and serves merely as a filler contestant made up of supposedly talented singers from randomly selected countries that didn't quite make it to the final in their own country.

I know there is a blob of land slightly to the right of Italy but that belongs to Russia, Greece or one of those troublesome countries over there that draws a new border every day. Even if Croatia was real today it could be gone tomorrow, like Yugoslavia.

Dont get out much? Do you?

I first heard about Croatia when they came outta nowhere to grab third place in the 1998 World Cup. Davor Suker was the top scorer of the tournament IIRC, what a legend. Since then I've always been kinda interested in Croatia, though I've never been. In general I am supportive of Croatian accession to the EU, but recently I had second thoughts about that when a load of them protested against the EU because we tried to bring one of their genocidal nutjob war criminals to justice. Cheek of us like. Still, it's a really fascinating country and I will definitely go there one day.

Wait, did I just answer this thread seriously?

It's still a bit run by organised crime. Which is fine until you end up assaulted by a gang, report it to the police, see the perps laughing with the cops and then be told that they found nothing and can't help.

It's a bit like bulgaria (DEN, DEN, DEN, DEN...) except beside Italy.

Were you actually at the tournament? I've been reliably informed that the whole thing was a sham, Suker was actually a fictional character, played by Jason Segel.

I can't believe that people still believe in Croatia after all these years. FFS people, it's just made up. There's no such thing. You're not going to heaven and you'll never get to Croatia.

    IT'S ALL MADE UP.

Granted, a side question though, did it ever try for credibility as a contest?

Went through it on the train once and wanted to get off but all my friends were scared of the heatwave that was apparently going on...
I could have been dreaming about it...probably should clear that up otherwise Ive been harbouring some unneccesary resentment :o
