They had a checksum before. The issue was that they provided the expected checksum if the incorrect one was provided.

Got this in an email last week.

The Summer Examination Board of the Faculty of Social Sciences will take place on Wednesday, 22nd June at 10.00 am. Immediately after this the results will be uploaded and students may view their results online.

The open consultation process for this module MN172 will take place on Thursday, 23rd June. Please email paul.donovan@nuim.ie to arrange an appointment, if, having received your result, you wish to discuss it with the School

Any idea how long does this meeting take?

    This confirms my suspicions....

No idea about the length of it, but in past years the upload times were 12 noon and 12.45pm.

Meeting takes more than a day normally.

It seems fair to take a ball park figure of 2 to 3 hours then?

Can I take it this just applies to the social sciences? Or are the various boards meeting simultaneously?

Results will be out tomorrow and maybe today, that's the way I'm looking at it, last year was a disaster because someone from the SU said that they'd be released on the Wednesday but they weren't.

As far as I remember the examinations board meets for everything and then *usually* the results are put up.Really hope its today they seem to have dragged on for weeks and I have to work tomorrow :(

We should have tarred and feathered him.

That message said the results would be released afterwards. But results for all students in all faculties come out at the same time. So no, it doesn't just apply to social sciences.

So it really looks like we could get the results two days early? That would be nice.

    I recognise that :(

    Anyone heard anything yet?

I want a 2.1 this year, at least in my major. I know I'll have to repeat two exams where I screwed up completely, but if the others are good, then at least I'll only have to repeat those and then I got it.

The Examination meetings for each department should be over by now, as I understand it, they are fairly thorough and they discuss pretty much every detail.

Then it goes to the main exams board, they look at the exams and results in a more overall fashion, and then release the results.

After any appeals have been settled, the final results are approved by academic council.

How can students appeal if they haven't seen their results. Just wondering.

    See:
Checking and appeal of Examination Results
    3.1 Grounds for Appeal:
An appeal of an examination result shall be considered
    (a) if there is evidence of substantive irregularity in the conduct of
    the examination
    (b) if the student is not satisfied that the checking of his/her
examination result was properly carried out.
    (c) if there are circumstances which the Examination Board was not
aware of when its decision was taken.

The grounds for appeal are limited, but they need to be taken into account, the appeals board meets if anybody has appealed any results and if the grounds for appeal are deemed valid they may take appropriate action to correct this, including changing the mark.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,945 ✭✭✭mp3guy

Yeah, it's getting close to calling it tomorrow...

But the student has to get the results first before they can appeal them and you've said that the council don't release the final results until the appeals have been dealt with.

^^ They are regarded as provisional until the appeals date ends I presume.

I suppose the college frowns upon people calling up and asking when they'll be online?
