I think this is one of the most wide open majors in the last 10 years. Westwood and Donald as favourites are good bets at 10/1 My money is on Shane Lowry EW at 125/1. I remember watching golf as a boy and hoping for a top 10 in a major from Darcy, Feherty, Walton etc. If you told me back then we would have 3 different major champions from this island, within a 4 year period, sharing 5 majors between them, including the 2 notoriously difficult ones to win as Europeans (US Open & USPGA)....I would have said "dream on"

Well done Rory.

To be honest I had my doubts at the start of the week whether he could get it done (especially after what happened at Augusta), but in truth he never looked like losing from Thursday onwards.

His iron play was sublime. Barely missed a shot all week.

I thoroughly detest people like him who post such utter drivel with such conviction. If anybody who watches golf in any meaningful way hasn't been able to recognise the rare ability of Rory McIlroy over the last few years, then I would suggest choosing a new sport to watch. Indeed, stay away from sport altogether.
