I am homosexual but I don't like the idea of ''Gay Pride'' at all. All it does is set the ''community'' even further apart from other people. Maybe I'd feel better about if it was LGBTS. I don't see why Straight people shouldn't be allowed to be proud of who they are as well.

I know a lot of gay people who seem to think they're better than straight people or that anyone who's straight is homophobic. A girl on my Facebook came out last night through her status and it was basically ''I am gay. I DON'T CARE IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU CLOSE MINDED IDIOTS.'' Immediately on the defensive, assuming everyone was homophobic or that people actually cared what her sexuality was.

I don't consider myself part of the ''LGBT community''. I am just person and I will not set myself apart like that.

Im amused at the frequent posts that contain the "im not gay but.." phrase.

lol..yea yea yea.. hiding something are we?

Go on, admit it, when you're whacking off sometimes mid stroke you think of a man..

And that's fine but some people are in situations where belonging to a community like this can help them, sometimes immensely.
Some are moving in groups where a majority will be homophobic.

Your experience != everyone else's experiences.

Er, seems there are a lot more "I AM gay but..." comments going down.

My view, fwiw is that although many homosexual people might not be a fan, its a positive thing.

Why? Well people that were gay were not always as comfortable with their sexuality as todays generation and for many many years have had to endure alot of discrimination.

Personally i want everybody to be happy, i have to admit im homophobic, but thats just a personal thing, while i am my own cocks biggest fan, i cant see the interest another man will find in one - however i still defend homosexual peoples right to be happy, and to find happiness.

Maybe it would help if you weren't so uptight, relax and have the craic.

Its all it is, is a bit of craic.. No need to go getting militant or uptight over it.
Militant? I certainly don't see myself as being militant; my whole point was based around the fact sexuality isn't, or at least should not be, that big a deal. It should not be the thing that defines you. But some of those who take part in Pride make a whole big song and dance about the fact that they're gay. I just don't see the need for it.

"Militant" would be me actively trying to get Pride banned or going around and slagging off people for taking part in it. That's not what my purpose is. I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, just giving my opinion on why I dislike the whole thing.

And I wouldn't call myself uptight either; ok, I generally dislike the gay scene but I've been to gay bars a few times and had a good night (usually takes a few drinks before I start enjoying myself, but still....)
St.Patricks day is the same, how many tee shirts and hats etc say 'Proud to be Irish' etc - the day is about having the craic, not feeling any particular pride in what you are.

Oh I hate St. Patrick's Day even more! Don't even get me started on that.... :pac:

Enda has bought a new dress specially for the occasion. Emmet Stag will be polling the electorate later and David Norris can't wait to get into the ''swing'' of things later.

    Did you mean dubh?

'Fear dubh' is another term for the devil as Gaeilge iirc, which is why they say gorm instead.

Is the Q new for this year? I've never noticed it before

I wish the gay community would do this every week... just to piss off the Joe Duffy crowd.

Militant? I certainly don't see myself as being militant
Nor I; "militant" is almost certainly next in in line to join the long list of English words which have completely lost all meaning due to rampant misuse.
