    Ah Terry, what a prick.
Best "Irish Pub" in Berlin by far was Murray's, but it closed down.
It was cheap, played good music, had good food and showed rugby over premier league.

When abroad, I'd rarely go near an Irish Pub. Find most of them to be crass dumps, noisy and smelly holes made worse by cheap decoration. Usually managed by loudmouthed and grissly 'I'm Irish types' flogging crap beers at inflated prices.

The worse of the kind can be seen all over Germany, which is a pity, because Germany has a great tradition for great bars, and although there are some great examples of Irish bars, most Irish bars are dreadful and similar to those soulless bars seen in US and Australia.

They're probably trying hard to fit into that place.

Irish Mbassy in Krakow, expensive, rowdy, and full of erm Irish! Only went to see rugby and the other half being Russian wanted an authentic Irish breakfast. Cost me more there than here and was rubbish!

krakow has so many class pubs and places to eat,, i didnt even see an irish bar any time ive been there... the one in agadir is sleazy mac sleazerton...
but when you are living away and feeling homesick nothin like a good irish pub to make you feel at home again (sometimes we're not travelling for the 'experience' but for some good weather and work possibilities). when i was living in san fran, id try go to the local bars but they just werent good 'craic', 2 irish pubs on haight street were always good and you'd always meet someone from home (who when ye were at home you wouldnt look at each other but out there, best mates!) who would have a contact for a job, ah so long ago now:rolleyes:
although wearing your gaa jersey down the irish pub is a step too far boys:p

I hate the Irish bars abroad, why should I want to travel abroad to be in a place that is supposed to look like a pub at home and be charge the same rip off prices? I prefer to find somewhere local or bring cans down to the beach. :)

Why do Irish people go to Paddie's Day in NYC?

Irish Pubs abroad are nothing like pubs here. They're big, over the top spots where someone will almost certainly buy you a pint 'cause you're Irish. Great place for the aul banter.

Irish bars in NYC are nothing like the shíte you see in the canaries and the likes. They're a fantastic place to have a drink or a bit of food, I will always go to Slattery's down by the empire state for a pint and Connolly's in Time Sq.And for a bit of food, The Playwright across from the old Lehman brothers bank.Very good atmosphere and no scobies around the place.

For me its PD O'Hurleys on W 72nd, fantastic, I've been there so many times even when i havent stayed anywhere near it!

Also went to NY with a mate a couple of years back. Did a bit of a pub crawl and ended up in this hole in the wall type pub around 50th street. bar man was an irish guy been in the US 20 years as an illegal we had a good chat to him for the night and pretty much the last to leave

Why why why why why why why why why why why why why why why...

Do irish people go to irish bars when there abroad whats the perpose ? i mean your in a different country and you they more or less head home.
Because they're full of locals, They open them for the local people not Irish people. Most other countries don't have establishments specifically for getting drunk. That's the market the Irish pub has cornered.
