He did present Culture Shock at least once, that didnt lead to anything.

Gilroy made the switch out of sports into current affairs, and KE would be able to do the same i would say, the thing is he wouldnt be able to play the comic angle which he is so good at.

He wrote a column for the Irish Examiner last season and I'd imagine writing is what he'll end up doing full-time, eventually.

Ken is a legend and a man of many talents but I tend to agree. I think the current line-up of Off the Ball is as good as it gets. To quote Gilesy speaking about Irish team in '93 "I think we should just enjoy it while it lasts. It's unlikely it will last for a long time, even Brazil have had great teams that come and go."

Man of many talents, Ken Early is not.

His affected accent and his opinion on everything is a bot tired at this stage.

As for the Off The Ball? It's up there with all the sports opinion shows. People getting very excited about others' opinions, with very little insight into anything.

Giles needs to be put out to grass. He's a relic of days gone by and, at 70 years of age, it's time to get some younger blood on the air-waves, someone with some connection to the current game.

For someone who was one cynical, dirty, brutal ba5tard in his day, he's very critical of anyone else he deems out of order.

As for KE's co-commentary on a Sunday? Very poor. Adds nothing to the show.

Does anyone know if @kenearlys is actualluly his own account on twitter?

Ive gotten over the silly accent when hes reading quotes, its just hilarious now.
I only get to listen to OTB from 9-9.30 every night so i cant comment on the rest of the show but what i hear (the football show) is decent,it is what it is,lads chatting about sport. Not to be taken too seriously, for me anyhow.

I don't think Ken's acce t is affected at all, thats how he talks. and as for putting Giles out to graze I couldn't disagree more, he is one of the few pundits who doesn't talk exclusively in platitudes and cliches. There is plenty of young blood on the Air waffling about football, its great to have someone who has seen and done it all. And isn't afraid to talk about it.

Really enjoy Ken and OTB generally. It is a fantastic show for the sports fan and genuinely makes driving distances less of a chore and almost a pleasure. A gem
