    Want a TurboDuo so bad!

The TurboExpress is a lovely thing too, not as expensive as I remember either.

A TurboDuo as in a USA PC Engine Duo/R/RX?

Is yours a PAL TG? Any mods on it? A TE/GT can be picked up on eBay for around £200+ I think.

How cool does the SuperGrafx look too? Always reminded me of the Sulaco from Aliens, or some piece of equipment you'd see lying about on it. :o

Did you know you can connect the Super Grafx up to the Super CD Rom 2? Unreal but true.

This is a cool link. For example, I never knew the ridges at the front of a PC Engine are actually CD holders.

Lol that couldn't be by design could it? Gas. I do like the back of the HuCard where it has a space for "Name:______", presumably your own? Like they were trading cards or something.

I find it near impossible to read that crap, have to stand at the back of the room or something to see it. As for the item itself, Geese linked the same item a few days ago I think, went for alot cheaper too: link.

Reading the description it sounds like the LT for sale there was in bits. Someone still got an amazing bargain though.

Thought Rondo was a little overrated when I finally played. It's an amazing game alright with some gorgeous graphics and sprites. However I think some of the other castlevanias such as Dracula's Curse, Bloodlines and Super Castlevania can be argued to be better.

First time to be buying and not selling in ages today... yay! Got myself a Dreamcast Wheel, not the official one unfortunately but it's pretty good anyway. It's the Thrustmaster Ferrari Wheel. Cost €15 so happy days. Now back to the grind of saving and continuing to destroy my retro collection to pay college fees. :(

The official one is nice, the only way to play Daytona on the DC!
The accelerator on the paddles either side of the wheel is odd, and they have a tendancy to stick, sprayed a little WD40 to loosen it up, worked a treat.

Nope, my TG16 is a US unit but Kerbdog, the trusty family wielder of the soldering iron, put AV connections in for me, no way to play Jap games though, not without spending a fortune on a converter, although there are plans out there for a homemade one...

Is it possible to get a VGA connection from a TG16 or PCE:CG or a Duo?

I've seen a couple of converters knocking around Assembler and PCE forums. You'd need a remortgage for one though. :(

Beautiful! Make sure to get an action replay 4 in 1 too if you don't already have one ;)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,328 ✭✭✭Pyongyang

Yep 4in1 is on my hit list. It's an HST-1001 but does it have to be surgically enhanced? Or can I soft mod it?

The one I bought comes with 2 pads and a step down transformer. Got it from the UK for a very good price I think.

If you use a 4 in 1 you can play games from any region. And as it's Japanese it'll be running everything in 60hz. So there are only two reasons to mod it -

To play backups (I'm guessing the collector in you has no interest in that :D)

A few PAL Saturn games are 60hz optimized. Not many though. The one that are were optimized to fit the whole screen. So you know the way unoptimized PAL 50hz games have boarders? Well an optimized game on a 60hz Saturn has the opposite effect - rather than boarders, the same amount of screen is missing off the top and bottom. As in the game's picture is too big to fit on the screen.

Useful info to know about PAL60 games. Thanks for that.

I wouldn't rule out running backups. I like to buy the games original of course but some stuff, like Radiant Silvergun for example, is just too tall a price for me to justify paying it. I might be odd, but I'm not a feckin lunatic! :)

Guess a mod is on the cards in the future then. Doubt I'll buy any PAL games at all, unless there's exclusive shooters for it.

From what I've been told, the Saturn modchip isn't too hard to install at all. Check over on consolegoods.co.uk for them.

Radiant Silvergun isn't THAT expensive..if you're into shumps you'll know how stupidly expensive some can get. You should be able to get it for around €100 which isn't too bad in the grand scheme of things. Not when you compare it to something like Psychic Assassin Taromaru.

And as for PAL games..well, you'll NEED to get PAL Panzer Dragoon Saga at some point ;)

Yeah I got my Dreamcast chip from Robert, works a treat. The Saturn one is confusing though as I don't know how many pins my board has for the CD drive.

Some Saturns can't use that chip he's selling so I might be S.O.L.

I'm a complete klutz with a soldering iron so I reckon I'll ring The Doc again and get him to have a fiddle with it, that'll keep him busy! Though he's on his hollybobs at the moment.

No rush though, the Saturn will sit redundant for now anyway, I just snapped it up because it was a bargain price I didn't want to miss.

The coming weeks I won't have time to play anything anyway. 3 weeks to go!

That's a seriously useful link, thanks very much. :)

    Looks like I can't mod it. It's a 20pin Saturn and Robert's chip won't work on it. :(

    Happy days,

I've just taken delivery of a copy of OoT with a 3DS as a prize for a competition I'm running and it's killing me to not open and play Oot on my own 3DS :(

Must say I didn't expect Oot to be delivered today at all.
