If you get a question on hitlers foreign policy, should you include WW2 or not??

Nah it wont go that far

the last thing you will talk about is hiterls pact with stalin so up to 1939

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 243 ✭✭GoldRush4821

Technically you should probably end it at the invasion of Poland but I suppose the Nazi Soviet Pact is just as valid :) I'd way prefer anti semitism to come up but I would not mind this one at all at all.!!

How safe would ye say I am If I know all of America's foreign politcy and all of civil rights?

Why wouldnt it go that far? If the question doesnt give a time frame you CAN talk about ww2, its part of the course..

I reckon "Why was it a missed oppurtunity?" and "Why was it not accepted by the people of Derry?", but I'm probably forgetting something obvious...

My teacher was tipping "Was the Lockwood Committee's decision a sectarian conspiracy?"

II guarentee you it will say up to 1939 if it does come up. Having the war included is too much to write about, well..you could fit it in but you would have to condense alot of your info

They asked a question about the "characteristics of the Nazi state" before, you could write a book on that, so I certainly would not rule a question out for that reason.

I dunno what it'll be...but I just want to know what kind of things you should bring in for those. Going by my mock, you're supposed to mention things from outside the case study. So housing issues, education changes beforehand, that kind of thing?

Obviously it does depend on the question.

Would I be safe in learning :
    Coleraine very well.

    Jarrow and anti-Semitism

    Montgomery

Cosgraves Gov and The civil war ?

Kind of chancing my arm but I've gotten lucky so far as to questions that suit me coming up :pac:

History is like no other subject =\ all this crapload of info is not staying in my brain at all, and everytime I read a question I totally forget what to cover.
Just now someone mentioned the Characteristics of the Nazi state. I'm like "WTF is that " yet I know very well that it's one of the things that I actually do know about the Nazis -_- I just get mixed up with the way they ask the questions. Having a serious meltdown. And dont even have time to stop and breathe. Time to work, just finished my 2k+ word essay on WW2. Lord, please, do not make it come up. SO MUCH INFORMATION :(:(

    US Containment, 1945-1972
    OR
    US Economic Decline

    Just a quick answer someone!

In MY opinion, Economic Decline. But I don't think my opinion is reliable when it comes to what to study in History =\.

Btw guys, if I leave out Russia and just learn Stalin Show Trials, will I be guaranteed a question on Hitler / Mussolini / (please no) WWII / Holocaust?

What? It's not that hard just say "No, because there were loads of good reasons to put in coleraine such as...... and Derry wasn't that good because......"

also the Retreat from Empire book, is anyone else doing it? it seems absoulutley everyone is doing the US book.

I don't see it like that at all. I seem to remember most of it...but do you really think it's wise to be doing 2k+ essays the day before the exam?? Maybe it works for you but it seems a bit pointless...

I really don't know but I'm not doing anything on the decline but will be learning containment. If Vietnam and all that is included within containment then surely something will come up.

I have no idea on the decline.

I don't see much point in learning show trials, doubt you're going to get an essay on just them- in fact it's very unlikely. I think Lenin is the more likely of the 2 Russian leaders, or both combined.

But if Hitler's economic policies and rise to power are included in that, then I think you are covered. Just my opinion, they could throw up a surprise, I suppose.

Ok here's what I hope to have crammed into my brain by tomorrow:

    D&D:
    Britain social & ec problems
    3rd french republic
    hitler's rise to power
mussolini's rise, consolidation of power & foreign policy
Stalin & Lenin economic & social

    USA:
    Cold War
ending of Cold war (détente etc)
    Vietnam
    Civil Rights & montgomery
maybe domestic factors on foreign policy if I have time

    IRELAND:
Cumann na nGaedhal social & ec
Experience of WWII north vs south
consolidation of democracy CnG v FF
    Sinn Fein election 1918
NI social & ec problems if I have time =S
and maybe a quick look over the treaty & civil war

Does that seem like enough to be covered for every section? So stressed out about this, especially the irish section >.<

Just remember to be calm tomorrow. There's nothing worse than panicking upon seeing the questions, and finding yourselves forgetting information!

Do the documents question first - it should build your confidence. The first 60 marks is relatively easy compared to the essays, and if you've studied the case studies well you should be covered well for the contextualisation.

Then do your STRONGEST question from the essay questions first. Again, this builds confidence and continues to help you gain momentum throughout the exam. Even if you'd initially panicked about one of the essay titles in the other sections, this confidence will help you greatly - by the end of it all you'll be surprised how much you remember - you'll be in full blown history essay writing essay mode. Go into this exam with a positive attitude - not a negative one! Best of luck tomorrow :).

Jarrow march and Rise of Fascism... two things my teacher did NOT do with us. And they seem to be heavily tipped.

Have mercy, oh great History exam, we are but mere mortals

Crap crap crap x.x I just feel like repeating 'I'm so failing' over and over until the 15th is over, and i'm 100% not the type of person who worries about exams <- unfortunately a major slacker (MAJOR) which is why i'm so freaked.
And yes, it isnt wise to be making essays the day before the exam but its ALL I can do. I honestly have to cover the whole damn course, and it really isnt just revision. It's learning off from scratch. Wish I was exaggerating, but yeh.. i'm really that stupid.

I'm gonna end up failing French as well since I have to cover that crap too. AND I need to take my shower. I wish I cud stay awake the whole night to do the USA book, but the keyboard noise wud wake up my house, and bother my sister. Most likely going to school at 7 am again, and sitting on the grass and studying french (while being fkin tormented by bees). I seriously wouldn't wish all this stress and the position i'm in, on my worst enemy. And I hate her guts. :(

I think containment, think something on economy came up last yr.

Why did the United States experience an economic boom, 1945-1968, and what was its
    impact on society?

I left out Russia completly, focused on Fascism :D but if worst comes to worst i could scribble down 2 pages on Stalin :)
There's always a q on Fascism,so i think if you know all of this + society ,inlcuding anti semitism ,you should be ok :)
