He will have to repeat the exam in August unless there is a cicumstance which qualifies him for an I Grade. He must pass the exam in August, otherwise he will have to repeat at least the module next academic year.

Hi i dropped out of UL last year and they sent me an email saying if i want to go to UL again then fill out a re-admissions form.I don't have the points for the courses i want to get into though does anyone know if i will still be considered for the course or is there no hope of getting into them?

    Hi Marie,

You can change course if you do not have the points for it via internal transfer, however because you dropped out it will be quite difficult. Generally, in order to transfer to a course for which you don't have the points you must be within 20points of the course and have a QCA of 2.6. As you dropped out, you would have to readmit to the course you were in, get a 2.6 QCA and then apply to change. It would mean an extra year and then the change.

    Le meas,

    Aoife

    Hi,

Incoming first year for the MMPT course (LM114), I was just wondering what (if any) are the weights for the semesters for this course? Also would you (or anyone else) know what type of software we'd be using? I tried looking around the site but I couldn't find anything - maybe I'm looking in the wrong place?

    As far as I'm aware weighting works much the same in all UL courses (except teaching); QCA resets after first year, meaning 2nd year is the first weighted semester. 2nd and 3rd year account for half your degree and 4th year is the other half. Basically your degree is structured like this;

    Semester 3 - 1
    Semester 4 - 1
    Semester 5/6 (whichever you're not on Co-Op) - 2
    Semester 7 - 2
    Semester 8 - 2

Best contact your Course Director for confirmation that this structure applies to MMPT - Kerry.Hagan@ul.ie.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey,

The letters usually arrive the Friday before or on the day. That's the plan for this year too so save any delays, you should receive notification before Monday (but maybe best not to consider it a definite green flag)

    Good luck with it,

    Aoife

Ok a question...If you are rejected for a course..Do you have any right of appeal or possibility of a review of the decision??If so by whom or what is the mechanism to do so??
    TIA

I have written an email of complaint regarding the above to the university, to whom should I send the email to? I would like to send it ASAP.

Thanks very much for any help.

    Hi.
Got my final results today and was wondering about the discretionary zone and being bumped up to a 1.1. I am/was a student in the CSIS department and was wondering is it a discretionary zone of .1 or .2. I now have a qca of 3.28 .What is the case if i decide to recheck some grades to boost my qca? (I remember hearing something about the external examiners but what happens if the external examiners have been and gone)

    hey.

i got an F in one of my modules which i taught i done ok in. the project and practical work was worth 50 percent which i had done pretty well. if i get my results rechecked will the project and practical work be rechecked too?

also im in first year and my QCA for semester 1 was 2.48 and semester 2 was 1.52. so my overall is 2.00 with two D's and 1 F
will the F be the only module i will have to repeat
    thanks

Hi Aoife, I know you must be up the walls at the moment...

there is some conflicting info being thrown around regarding repeats.

    I got a b3, c3, and 2 d1's along with an F
    my overall qca is 1.76

    i understand i need to repeat my F module, if i can get a c3 will I have a 2.0 ? and do I need to repeat the 2 d1 modules,
or do i need to repeat the 3 of them regardless ? some are posting yes, some are saying you just need to do the F

I know i can pass the d1 modules, I just dont have the money to pay for 3 repeats ?

    thank you

    Hi Aoife,
Im about to enter my third year of PE teaching, have done well in the exams but have realised that its not for me and wish to change courses within UL immediately before i waste anymore time...(I know i'll be starting from 1st year again of course)..
Just wondering is it the re-admission form that i need to fill out and what happens if i do not get it delivered in time before July 1? I have only made the decision in the past few days...is it necessary to get a Statement in Support of Readmission filled out because getting this might delay me from applying in time?

    Thanks

Hey, can you send me your student ID number asap and I'll forward the forms and give you the info you need. Are you within 20 leaving cert points for the course you want to change into??

Hey can you email me (SUEducation@ul.ie) you cumulative qca, this must be above 2.00, if it is you only have to clear the F off your transcript to progress to the next year and you have the options to clear the Ds off your transcript, if its below you have to repeat the Ds to bring up your QCA.

Hey sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Right what is your cumulative QCA? if this is a good bit below 2.00 then you will have to repeat the Ds to bring the QCA up. Would you feel confident to get the Ds rechecked, its €25 per exam and if you go up you'll get the money refunded, (its an option!)

Get back to me on your results from the first semester too and we can work out a potential QCA and know how many you have to repeat from there.

    Aoife
