Are you fella's joking? It's "Common Level"! I always (and so does everyone in my class) view it as the easiest A you can get.

My project wasn't too good though, thanks to some idiot teacher replacing my old one. She has no idea what we were meant to be doing....

Common level for common sense. If you have that, you'll ace it.

How can anyone be worried about CSPE? It's the easiest test going! A guaranteed A if you watch the news once a week or so...

    Apart from a fundraiser, I think that's it. I'm viewing CSPE as a glorified nap-time :p

Presuming you can read the paper in the first place. Not everyone can.

Once a year or so more like it. You can guess things fairly easily anyway with the pictures. A shame, I could have put my political knowledge to use.

OK, stop the sneering attitude to people who may have trouble with some subjects (not just CSPE).

It makes YOU look pretty stupid, not to mention what it tells us all (and the eternal internet archive) about your upbringing.

Sorry... Didn't mean to sound like a complete asshole. I'm failing maths and CSPE is one of the few subjects I can guarantee doing well in.

    apologies again

Thanks. Your post coincided with some charmers who decided to slag off people in the Maths thread. I'm aware most of the people who post here are literate, probably doing mostly honours at JC, but that is not the entirety of the JC cohort.

It would be great if those doing Foundation English, Maths or Irish could post and get support here, but just watch what happens if anyone even mentions it. It's a pet peeve of mine.

ANYWAY - thanks again for the apology and game on once more. The great thing with CSPE is that if your teacher has the project/course work diary thing sorted you can do really well. If the teacher hasn't got a handle on it yet, then the 60% for non-exam assessment becomes a millstone.

Nope, I was joking. Btw i probably shouldn't have made that joke, I 'm sure there are people who actually have a problem with CSPE but I thought it was funnier than the other ones ;)

suppose I was lucky then, we had a great teacher that made sure we had everything done perfect for the action project

Not to sound like a mod or anything, but can you stop trolling about this now? Or at least put a simple "/s" to indicate your sarcastic tone?

Makes it difficult to filter the people who ARE actually having difficulty, though I must admit that I usually find the tests exceptionally easy. Those who have any grasp upon Irelands current affairs etc. are bound to do decently on the theory.

However, I am feeling worried about my project. My fill-in teacher whom we had for 6 months was blatantly fresh out of college, and had no idea how to handle a class of 30 students. So, she let us do whatever we want, with little to no guidance on the project section. We did have some talk a good while back with an ex prison-governer, but the quality of my writing wasn't too impressive (the language itself, not presentation as such). Don't tenses get marked? I know that seems strange, but I wrote the majority of it in past tense, whereas a lot had to be future tense etc.

Hopefully the marking guidelines aren't too strict. Spurious, do you teach CSPE?

I have the worst teacher for CSPE, ever. He can NOT control a class at all. No work was ever done in his classes. We all had to take time out from other subjects to make sure we had our action projects completed. I question how he even passed his LC to become a teacher, no exaggeration. He talks to you like you're a two-year old too which is annoying. :(

I was being deadly serious by this post, although i do find some of the jokes funny, especially the grinds teacher one :L But yeah, all the trolling got annoying so any help? :L

I wouldn't really take CSPE as a guaranteed A. I know from doing the JC last year and the results from people in my year and others that it took them by surprise wheo they got a B. So I'd say it deserves it's own proper attention even if it's not as technicaly difficult as other subjects.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,229 ✭✭✭robman60

Everyone takes it as a guaranteed A, but only around 25% of people actually get it.

    Yes.
If I recall correctly, there's a maximum number of As that an examiner can hand out. At least, that's how I think it goes. Point is, if you look at the stats, most people won't get an A in CSPE. You're far more likely not to.
