Yeah I go away quite a lot. In the past three years I've been to London, Edinburgh, Malaga in Spain, Frankfurt in Germany, the Canaries a couple of times, Egypt, Tunisia and Florida.

This year I visited Germany again, I've Barcelona coming up shortly, Munich for the Oktoberfest, back to Frankfurt then getting a train to Paris for a few days. I have Tenerife in August too & hopefully I'll get to the Dam or Prague for my birthday in December.

The joys of working in a travel company! :D

Now I have a child foreign travel will be grinding to a halt for a few years. Not just because of the cost, but because I don't think its fair on a toddler or the other passengers to take them on a long flight (I got stuck next to a screaming baby for 16 hours on a flight from NZ to Chile once, I wouldn't inflict that on anybody). Once she's old enough to remember the holiday and behave on the flights we'll start travelling again.

DPE, you won't have to wait long. I have had my daughter, who is now three on many flights, some over 5 hours and she is great. She's not a cryer though.

This year I have been back to Ireland twice, then the east coast of the US for two weeks.

Im flying into Dublin for one day to see my new born neice or nephew at the end of the month, I got a deal with my airmiles.

I will be back in Ireland agian in October and the states. Then the same at Christmas.

My family are Irish based and my other halfs are in the states. Necessity and it swallows allot of what I could be saving here but I couldnt live with out seeing my girls.

during the boom years , myself and the wife saved hard for some great holidays
    Vegas/Chicago
    Bali/Hong Kong
    Thailand/Malaysia (Honeymoon)
new york a couple of time
recently I've been to Amsterdam prague and Berlin , but they where all stag weekends

but now that we have a child its all changed , plus my wife's job is down to 4 day week , we are saving a coupleof euro's each week for a week in spain hopefully for October

I tend to go on a few long weekends away to various places over the year as opposed to shelling out in one chunk for a one or two week holiday. I get to go more places that way, and I'm not a fan of long holidays away anyway.

Just back from Bulgaria, going to Melbourne in nov for 4 weeks. Been to the UK quite a few times over the past year too. Cheaps flights make all this possible! 10 years ago all this would have cost a fortune, Not anymore...

Going in the morning! €100 return flights, accommodation €200 for the week, €400 spending money. Can't wait :)

Oops, forgot to say where. Malta :)

What's up with all the cheap deals to Malta this year, i've seen loads of special offers for there?

I'm off to portugal in 2 weeks. Yay! Financially it's gonna be a stretch, but fúck it, there's only so much doom and gloom you can take and in my humble opinion, money spent having a good time is never, (well seldom), wasted.:D

Moved to Switzerland 2 years ago specifically to see Europe.

    Been to
    Most of Switzerland (Zurich/Geneva/Basel/+ others)
Southern Germany (Black Forest/Freiberg/Kaiserstuhl wine region/Bavarian region)
    Eastern France (Strasbourg/Besançon/Dijon/Lyon/Valence)
    South of France (Cannes/Monte Carlo/Nice/Antibes)
Liechtenstein (it was a great 10 minutes)
    Austria (Innsbruck/Salzburg)
    Italy (Venice/Lake Garda/Lake Como)

Some of these were day trips, some were just overnight stays, some we stayed for several days.

On top of these are countless other unknown towns which are less known for tourists but are brilliant, such as Colmar in France, Titisee in the Black Forest, Gengenbach also in the Black Forest.

This year I have 10 days in Italy with herself, two 10 day stints in the alps, a weekend in Edinburgh and have one more week to decide what to do with, but will definately go abroad. I don't have a car/mortgage/family so it's possible to do it, particularly as I'd be willing to sacrifice other luxuries (don't have satalite telly) to make it all possible.

Already been to Spain, I doubt I even spent €500 including flights and renting a car. I've never been one for fancy holidays, I tend to decide on a place I want to go then buy the tickets then do the bare minimum of planing over the week or two I have until the flight leaves. I like my holidays to be more like adventures, most times I only book the first two days of accommodation and see how it goes from there.
