I work part-time in retail 'cause I'm still in university. That's about it, just been saving for the last while to afford it and shopped around for cheap flights. Accommodation is a private room in a hostel so nothing fancy. But sure, don't need anything posh, all I'll be doing is sleeping in it.

Went on two holidays last year... this year not working so no chance.

I got a 40e return flight to London in a few weeks to see my best friend and we are going to head down to her boat down south for a few days. It ain't the Med, but I know we'll have a great time regardless and I am really looking forward to it :)

Never went on holidays, I never understood it being the norm to spend hundreds, sometimes thousands of euro on a trip abroad

Book early, you can get great deals on flights. I am going fri to mon although would have been cheaper if i went mid-week.

Pick a city you haven't been to before and check it out. Hotels always cheaper and great deals mid-week.

Never really seen the point in big holidays to mental hot countires. Sitting about in the sun all day just isn't my idea of a great time. Every few years I travel to England and Scotlands to visit some old friends, that's about as much holidaying as I do.

God (or insert diety of choice or none) be with the days - I remember a holiday I went on, - 14 days in Egypt being described as "The holiday of a lifetime" and in my f**ked up thinking at the time thinking, 'not likely, I'm doing something of this type EVERY year from now on' hahahahaha !!

Now, a week in the crummiest craphole of a resort in Spain would be heaven...... or maybe not, - thinking of outfitting a very old van as a camper and doing a few summer trips for next year. Finances permitting of course.

It plays a part but I think the one big difference now is that there are no more really, really cheap flights.

I used to go away 4 or 5 times a year when flights were proper cheap. Like 60 Euro return to Rome for two, all in. Nice 75 Euro for two, all in. I think one of those was 70 oneway and 5 euro return!

    And that was fairly normal.

I think what happened (as well as fuel increases) was that Ryaniar realised that Aerlingus were always just putting their prices in and around Ryanairs and thus started to raise them, which in turn meant that they were right.... as Aerlingus still at best "matched" ryanair.

So now if you are really lucky you might get the odd cheap assed flight but it is in no way comparable to about 3-5 years ago.

Went to Florida with the kids in March for a week and off camping to France for a month at the end of the week. I'm lucky i guess because i did'nt need to buy a house in the last few years as have had my own house since i was 20 otherwise it would be a weekend in Courttown for us every year. Uhhh

Last year I went touring around Latvia and Estonia, then went to Paris with the gf, and then in July the two of us went to Tuscany for a bit.

This year we went to London for New Years (birthday present from her parents), and I'm hoping to get away to Poland some time in the summer. In October I'm going to Georgia (expenses paid), half for work and half for travelling. I also suspect my parents might have booked me a holiday (graduation present), possibly to Russia, for immediately before I go to Georgia, but I'm not sure.

This year you can see I've been going on cheap or free holidays, I'm trying to save up a chunk of change to go travelling proper in a couple of years.
