Jesus tonight, I just checked my O2 bill to see how I got on on holidays, I was in France for 10 days at the start of last month and I got the 500MB Data Roaming package from O2 for €75.00, It was €50.00 for 50MB so I decided to play safe with 500MB.

It turns out the I used 670MB while roaming but the thing I cant figure out is the fact that there was no data usage below 4.0MB while I was away. which I presume included a look at facebook here and there along the way and receiving the odd email, and here in Ireland my data usage on the bill starts from 48.0 KB upwards.

Can anyone shed a bit of light on this ?

Aren't the roaming charges meant to be capped?

I just checked mine a while ago, was in London for 2 days. Bill is a hundred euro more than it usually would be.
I feel better about it now after reading this though!

Funny that. Somehow all my monthly 1 GB was used up in the first few days of my billing period this month. Wonder if it's related to your problem.

    Your options are:

    1. Sort out the bill

    2. Get off O2 and on to a decent network (I still can't believe there are people using this shower!)

Pop into the O2 forum, alternatively pop into a shop and they'll have a look. I added your total cost line up in XL and it should only be €184.

How come there is no usage less than 4.0MB?

Is there a minimum usage policy in place

How come the usage is so high for web surfing ?

There is also the €75.00 roaming charge the €60.00 monthly an extra €14.00 or so for roaming calls and they shoved on another €75.00 for roaming in June which I would say that they will sort out and then a bit of Vat.

What does the terms and conditions of your contract say in relation to these issues?

Fair enough...you didnt expect this either and thought I was a flake right?

Vodafone: Vodafone planner These gys are pretty alright. Used to hate them but still have friends using them, all have no complaints either and their data plans suit them down to the ground.

Meteor: Meteor plans So I've been using these for around 6 years now, have had a few niggles with their phone support menus, but their pricing is grand and now have that no roaming charge deal.

3: 3 Plans And this group have good options, data allowance and their flexifix plans are pretty affordable, with addons if needed...

All I see as a positive for O2 would be their "gifts" they have for customers.

Happy that I went for the bite now?

    Yes.
AFAIK as a result of EU rules, once you go above 52 Euro or thereabouts, above your agreed limit, they should prevent you from using any further data.

3 also have "3 like home". Means you can use your phone exactly as you would here at home if you are roaming in a country with a 3 network.

02 robbed me for long enough.
