I never mentioned any religion. Try again.

As I stated - Imagining for the sake of argument that that was true, and given the revelations of the Ferns and Murphy report, Ryan commission, would it not be safer to say that was far more symbolic of the 'Old Ireland' than anything else?

Why are you talking about child abusers and the Ryan commision. We are talking about David Norris.

So what makes Norris different ?

It depends on who is running but he would be on my list of people to vote for. It looks like there will be a good choice. I hope he gets nominated. A disgrace if he doesnt.

Do you have some problem in answering the question? You've failed to do so twice now. Do please explain.

    What symbolic tradition ?
Name any previous president, or candidate that was named in those reports ?

What makes Norris so progressive ?

Ironically, the same people have a problem with a homosexual that engages in consensual sex with people above the legal age as president have no problem with the biggest pedophile ring in the history of the planet being in control of 95% of our primary schools.

Only Paedos of a certain religion are a problem ?

What are you trying to pretend previous presidents were involived in, spit it out, you have not made that clear, then I can answer.

What makes Norris so progressive, or are you avoiding that ?

I believe Norris did not take legal action, or ask for a correction because he firmly stood by these quotes and they reflected his beliefs.

TBF they reflect my beliefs too. and many many others I suspect. but people are throwing up red flags because he said the "P" word, and not stopping to take stock of what he's trying to say.

So David Norris is a paedo now? Perhaps you can show me the article where David Norris says he's sexually attracted to pre pubesent boys and engages in sex with them?

I'm merely querying your statement here
A Gay Irish West Brit President born in the Belgian Congo, who is sexually attracted to underage boys ? Sounds perfect for the new Ireland all right

Of course theres always the chance that I misinterpreted your meaning. Perhaps if you explain it to me....?

Paddy Power must be following this thread. The Bearded One is now 2/1 with Pat Cox slipping into the role of Favourite.

Cox in the Aras? We can't have such an abomination.

I'll go back on my previous decision not to vote for Norris if it means keeping Pat Cox from winning. The thoughts of him as our president makes me shudder. Didn't he head the 2nd pro-Lisbon campaign.. the one with all the bullshit?

Fcuk that for a game of toy soldiers!

I can just see the headline in The Irish Smut: Gay Presidential candidate shafted by Cox

You were the one that brought up Paedo's
Perhaps you can show me where I was reffering to Norris ?

How would a president "sexually attracted to underage boys" be perfect for the "new Ireland"?

    What is this "new Ireland"?

Cannot stand that man. Regardless of whom I'm voting for, he would be last - and only then if a gun was pointing at my head.

Whatever about Ancient Greece or victims of child abuse, intellectual high brow context, paedophilia versus pederastry, the fact remains Norris's quotes are very damaging and he alone has created this mess and shown very questionable judgement.

Pretty sad your only form of argument is making up stuff about Norris and then pretending you didn't say it.

I just read it. Not too surprised by the content, when I knew he was going to write a piece on it, I figured he would back up Burke. Funnily enough though, he didn't make any reference to hearing the tapes. He just took her word for it!
i would like to hear that tape, as when i was growing up, a father had a pint with his son, it was a sign that he welcomed him into the world of adulthood, was i born under a bush, that i am shocked by certain sentences in this link

...just not too familiar with the 'unspeakable vice of the greeks', really. Which isn't suprising, as its a topic avoided like the plague. For some reason.

Do you want to talk about senator norris now?

A land and a state of mind that we are yet to reach. A place in which a man regardless of his background or orientation may attain office, the source of our representation to those in the context of abroad. It is where tolerance abounds, where the enigma of intolerance has been all but smashed, smashed by our progression as a people. We are moving toward a state of political operation, a new playing field and perhaps a new mode of existence regarding the political arena, both real and virtual.

The day is upon us when intolerance and bigotry no longer enslave our actions and beliefs, and we are released, free to roam and expand our mind within a new existence where tolerance is tolerated and intolerance is not tolerated.
