Couldn't vote for anyone who is unable to speak proper english.

    he was just quoting Joyce

"Where from? roars Poolbeg. Cookingha'pence, he bawls Donnez-moi scampitle, wick an wipin'fampiny Fingal Mac Oscar Onesine Bargearse Boniface Thok's min gammelhole Norveegickers monikerOg as ay are at gammelhore Norveegickers cod."

another thanks whore. I read the website and publications about him, I can only suss him out by what I'm given. I'm not going to say he's the man for the job just because he's gay. I fucking swear to god I'm sick of people playing that homophobia card. Would you vote for him if he wasn't so controversial?
    .......

You said he was plaguing people about the fact he was Gay. If you have film of Mr Norris jumping out of the proverbial bowl of rice and screaming about how gay he is, by all means present it.

i did say i'd a certain respect for him and being an openly gay senator who fought for this obviously ridiculous law to be scrapped is part of that reason. however - i wouldn't compare his achievements to either Robinson or McAleese. McAleese's work on the Troubles and Robinsons involvment in various campaigns outshine his imo.

So getting a nation to accept that gay people deserve as many human rights as straight people is outweighed by other president's work? He helped us to start catching up with other first world nations human rights so I think he's rather deserving. It's like saying that Martin Luther King didn't do as significant work as other people in politics, because sure he was just after black civil rights.

After reading John Waters' article I would add 'opportunistic' to the Norris CV.

but still very camp. and i dont want a camp head of state. the irish president is effectively the country's highest ranked diplomat and diplomats by their very nature need to be unoffensive and appealing to a wide cross section of people and cultures - i just can't imagine Norris making a particularly good impression on King Abdullah...

You're worried that Norris won't impress King Abdulla?

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

solely from looking at his website, I wouldn't ever vote for him.

Why does he insist on plaguing people with his sexuality?
I see a lot of people pulling the homophobia card out though if somebody doesn't agree with it. It's not my cup of tea but I am friends with gay people.

I don't mind people being gay, but don't rub it in our faces.

But I know people who are straight and don't shut up about sex and that annoys me too.

Why does he have a fake accent?
Couldn't care less about his religion(as long as it's not extremist).

He said the heroes of 1916 were terrorists didn't he?
and, he wants Ireland to rejoin the commonwealth which I disagree with.

He seems a bit too radical and seems to have a hidden agenda which I can't put my finger on, but I'm certainly not voting for him as he doesn't appear to be of presidential material.

By the way, he was born in the Congo, is he even qualified to run for the presidency? I'm not sure about the rules and regulations.
    Reported.

You didn't mention straigh people as far as I can see. You simply complained about homosexuals flaunting it. And to me you came across as homphobic/anti gay. It was not because you wouldn't vote for him and you know it.

And don't call me one-sided or insult me just because I choose to support Norris, it doesn't help your argument in any way. Less of the smart ass crap as well please.

Of course I read all posts, of course I'm open-minded just not to homophobes.

Above is my original post. You will see where I spoke about straight people highlighted.
How did I come across as anti-gay? Not that it's any of your business what I believe in. Never said I was anti-gay and I don't see how I portrayed myself like that. Any examples?
How could I have gay friends if I was a homophobe?

And there is supporting someone and there's shoving it down our throats. I don't want to vote for him and you call me a homophobe for it. And you're not reading the posts correctly because you missed the bit about straight people in my OP.

Why did you report me anyway? Because I have a different view to you? Please grow up and stop with this politically correct left wing nonsense and be open to others' opinions.

    .

    It is true though.

We have to stand up to the random cock drapers and tea baggers.

Stand up and say "No!". Or at least "Not unless we have a drink and a chat".

yupyup, the original website you ran is run by an extremist christian called Enoch Burke, who is trying to block Norris as president using very underhand and misleading information. google the burke family from Castlebar, and see the sort of stuff they shout about at their "protests". They're like the Irish equivilant of the westboro baptist church, not people whos "info" you should be putting any weight in.

Yes, people are throwing about the "homophobe" card far too easily here. I dont think you are homophobic yupyup, however, you've been quite mislead about Norris thanks to that website, and this thread has covered it many times already, so some people are becoming frustrated and losing the head a bit, on both sides.

Remember what scripture used used say about having a millstone tied around you neck and drowned in the depths of the ocean.
Norris really lost the plot when he was whinging on Pat Kenny show, and quoted Bible about those who persecute you.

A slow grinding motion centred on and coming from the hips, I'd imagine.

I was on this site, http://www.davidnorris4president.com, so I went by that one

This is the site you said you were on. This site is NOT run by David Norris, it's run by Enoch Burke, he is an extreme right wing Christian, who opposes David Norris based on his sexuality. If you have based your opinion on David Norris based on this site, it's an uninformed site! His vision for the presidency is faultless. His main three issues are

    Mental Health
For too long Irish society has allowed the issue of mental health to hide behind a curtain of shame. As a small community based nation one of the few remaining areas in Irish Society ruled by silence and to remain hidden is that of mental health and mental wellbeing. As we struggle to rebuild our nation under times of great stress, now more than ever as a society we need to address how each of us can support those who live with depression on a daily basis. Now is the time to embrace the fact that there is no shame in addressing this issue. Each day we are told that more and more members of our society see no future and choose suicide. There has to be a better alternative where shame has no place and the chain of silence is broken.

    Culture
Worldwide we are renowned for our culture and heritage. A culture based on stories handed from one generation to the next; Ireland has a proud tradition and culture that is one of the greatest natural resources we possess. This tradition and culture is a living, breathing resource. Despite this, we remain blind to the important role that culture can play in restoring the Irish economy. We export musical talent all over the world. Influential people like Bono, Van Morrison, Glen Hansard and Enya mix with the world of theatre, sport and dance and help to sell Ireland as a nation of arts, heritage and culture.

    Enterprise
As president I will ensure that enterprise and innovation projects will play a key role in my itinerary. Ireland is a country full of intelligent, enterprising people who simply need a chance. They ask for little else. I believe in showing the kind of leadership that will harness the ingenuity and creativity of a nation that is hungry to get back on its feet. A nation that believes in what this country can be.

I know now that the site wasn't his. I was also going by the media view. I'm completely ignoring the site now, but the media coverage of him isn't inspiring either.

The mental health and enterprise issues are both very good points but I don't think he would reflect the country as whole in terms of culture

Big list of candidates this time, no job offer is left without a stack of applications it seems! I think he's a good candidate, don't know if he's the best of the bunch though.
