Lol. Is it just online stat tracking and map packs? Balls to that.

Lovely now I'm worried that I have to spend more money every month

depends how good the game is, if its amazing and im going to be playing it every day for hours then I dont have a problem paying a few euro every month. If not then you can fu*k off:pac:

After the "game" Benrob, Seamus, CFC, lynx etc had on Array last night and then the length of time we all had trying to get a game with 8 of us, I would pay for dedicated servers. I got something like 20 days play out of MW2, and currently 15 odd days for Black Ops, so I think the purchase price of the game means I'm getting excellent value for money. A tiny bit more per month for no lag issues or delays in getting games would be worth imho.
Half tempted to get GoW3 - Seamus mentioned last night it has dedicated servers... see what all the fuss is about.

Honestly, I can see myself paying for it for at least one term to see what it is like. I wonder if we can buy it with MS points, or what else would be required.
Also, it explains why Treyarch did not make their stats online this time like W@W though.

I find it funny that the Call of Duty Killer is Call of Duty.
The only way I will be paying for a monthly service is if I get a happy ending out of it :D:D

So they take the free stat tracking from BFBC2 and the online community and theatre features from Halo Reach and charge monthly for it?

    Ugh.

Take the information from 2 people who were hands on with COD Elite for multiple hours:

Edit: And just like that... making a decent video can get you a Machinima contract :)

truthfully I play COD to have a bit of fun killing people, I don't really care enough about how often I kill someone else to want to pay for it.

There seems to be rumours that if you are subscribed to this you can the DLC free, if that is the case, surely they will want a yearly fee instead of a monthly one? it then begs the question that after your sub runs out will you still have access to the DLC?

    Stupid idiotic money milking *****

They're never getting a penny off me for what's ultimately a premium COD service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,732 ✭✭✭Magill

From that video, it sounds as if it wont cost very much once you take cost of the map packs out of it. Sounds like a very in depth stat tracker. Guess we'll find out at E3 the rest of the details.

Also the portable stat thing is basically like blizzards Armory thing that you can use on your ipod (You can play on the auction house etc from your phone... its really good).

If it works out at like 40ish quid a year.. i'll probably get it because the mappacks will cost about that anyway

You get the DLC as part of your fee. As in: once the map packs become available, you can just download them. However, you'll probably have to be signed up for a certain length of time, as I assume you can't just sign up the month the maps are released, then cancel your sub, thus getting the maps for $8 or whatever.

Obviously just trying to make even more money by tacking on a stupid stat service and the awful DLC maps. And I don't believe for one second that the free online multi-player won't be affected by this. F**k everything about this.

You did watch the video, right? How will it kill the community?

I seriously cannot stand peoples ignorance of judging something based on "well I'm not paying for it"

FFS, read a blog or watch one of the videos... Then make your opinion

Probably shouldn't have made my mind on this so quick. Had a look at a few videos, inc. the official one, and it actually looks much better than I expected

You musta expected something pretty terrible cause this is BAD! I like checking out my KD as much as the next but no way will i pay per month for it.
Specially when other devs do this for free, for the record even if it was free i still wouldnt use it. I dont care what a spreadsheet tells what weapon im best with...I KNOW THAT ALREADY. It changes from night to night depending on play style, connection, map and my mood.

Groups... seriously? Thats what clans are for. Elite is a fail imo already, useless stats for normal people and the people who would want to dicesct every single match they have ever played...well....I wouldnt say they get out much ether way to have something else to spend their money on.

I was, now I'm...indifferent. It will either end up being a massive success or an epic fail. When i heard it was just stats i was disappointed, but some people are saying there might be dedicated servers for the clan/group matches

Think your being overly critical of something you really only know bits and pieces about. I'll wait until all the details are fact before passing judgement on ELITE.

The groups sound like a good idea.. its fine for you to say thats what clans are for, but most people that play this game don't have a forum like boards to go to, probably 80-90% of the people that play this game play on their own or with a couple of RL mates. I think the groups and stuff will be a great boost to the cod community.

Kids will love the stats (Even big kids), it'll be really popular on the ole mobiles if its anything like the "Armory/AH" app that blizzard have.

Also, from the vid, theatre mode is obviously coming back, so thats great news.

No doubt there will be clan forum hosting along with the group feature along with stat integration. Along with DLC included in the package, it may be a good deal.

For the individual, detailed heatmaps are fantastic in Halo. Sitting down and having a gander at them now and again can really highlight your game imperfections. The same thing is coming to Call of Duty.

If it is not your thing, grand, no one will force you to pay for it or suffer from its existence. I however, fail to see it as a failure based on the knowledge we have.
It will also, hopefully, change the youtube community for the better, but that has to be seen.

I really couldnt give two s}{!ts what you spend your money on , or whether you get the elite or not so why should you belittle the people that do ?
The whole elite package hasnt been fully disclosed as of yet so i'm wondering do you really have a clue on what your talking about ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,788 ✭✭✭✭krudler

Map packs and theatre mode I'll pay for, if its stats and clan stuff not so much, I dont pay enough attention to them to warrant paying for it. you can learn just as much on your own and watching youtube commentaries then learning the sightlines and choke points as looking at heat maps. Will be interesting to see what it is though.
