Lads, we're gonna have to rise up and overthrow them, organize a boards group in the July 16th protest, i know a few going. We're going to have to revolt.. for our future and our children's future.. we cant leave it in their hands.

Is there a protest? I've been protesting in Spain for the past few weeks (I'm sure you've heard about it) but at least they have a decent healthcare system here and I don't think they realise how good they have it. This thread is very upsetting. My friend has Schizophrenia and I visted her a few times in a state mental home and I couldn't believe I was in my own country. It was the single most shocking thing I've ever seen, the place was an absolute kip and apparently it's been closed down since (but they didn't build a replacement). I'd fly home specifically for that protest if it's on.

Almost as facepalmy as an islamophobe who also hangs around an Irish message-board constantly to make anti Irish comments.

I have both parents who are going through the mill . Man you have to scream loud and I do believe it works. That Primetime special is just the tip of a very big Iceberg. My Mum was told by the Rehab in Dublin that she would never walk again after 4/5 days of treatment .Hell I had her walking within 24hrs and recorded it to show the PENPUSHERS within the place who just wanted her bed.Mam walked out of that place after a few months thanks to the Nurses and Physios etc and The Family.Dont take NO for an answer, keep annoying them .

I was just watching prime-time investigates there and couldn't believe what i was seeing. What sort of country won't even give a medical card to a motor neurons disease sufferer so they can access the services they require.

The same country that flushes almost a billion euro down the drain per year to the third world. That is the sort of country.

Maybe its still low-key but i believe it could gain momentum before the date due to the wikileak's cables being released. AFAIK the IMF are in Dublin on the 16th for some quarter year review.
There's a facebook page set up for it so ill provide the link, we may go Egyptian/Spanish on the governments ass,2.5 million for a garden and paying for fat cats like Mary Harney to get fatter is a disgrace.

stranger perhaps is the instinct to focus on those even weaker in moments of crisis.

a better focus would be on mechanisms to democratise and re-distribute resources via community partnerships models and the like.

oh, and to hold to account those who brought us to this point - an no, i dont buy the 'we're all to blame' rhetoric.

No talking to idiots like you obviously

You have no problem with third world scum living like kings in this country without a care in the world while sick and elderly Irish suffer so our retarded government can pay for the scum

    mod: banned.

bollocks! my gf is a non national, is on minimum wage and suffers a chronic illness that costs €200 a month in medicine alone and cannot get a medical card.

Ah of course, don't answer the question, just call him an idiot - because you can't answer him and you don't like being challenged, even though it's a perfectly fair question. And, care to back up the "third world scum living like kings" assertion? Saying all non nationals have a medical card is what's idiotic btw.

You haven't even presented evidence for your assertion about the medical cards. We can get to the rest when you do that.
while sick and elderly Irish suffer so our retarded government can pay for the scum

Funny enough, that might be true, but not in the sense you seem to mean it.

Realistically how am I to get evidence to support this?
I am above most people so I dont need to produce evidence
And to the fella who said his boyfriend who is foreign is 'chromically ill' and doesnt recieve a medical card I say brilliant,, one down, half a million to go

Pull it out of the same place the assertion came from, I suppose.

I weep for our education system if this is the best trolling people can come up with.

    Is the bad spelling intentional?

So you just believe "all" "non" nationals have a medical card because you SAY they do. Top universities around the world are deprived without thinkers such as yourself.

Look, if you do-gooders dont realise that the government doesnt have the money to provide sick and elderly Irish people with medical cards etc because oif the influx of third world scum who get everything they want then theres no hope for you

Its a pity because we all have sick/elderly relatives and seeing africans, romanians etc flourishing while Irish suffer makes me sick

PS east europeans and chinese are willing to work, great people, they are not included in my third world scum catagory

    Thank you
    Any questions?

The Taoiseach has described the suffering of many home carers and their families as a 'shocking indictment on society
    http://www.rte.ie/news/2011/0531/carers.html

Enda assumes that we are all responsible for this. Its very easy blame society for governments failings!

I seen that earlier. I'd describe it as a shocking indictment on governance.

I have MS, no medical card for me either.

that's just crazy and it's extremely wrong. i'm not going to start giving out about the people that are entitled to a medical card that do f*ck all and easily get one, but the people that really need it cannot get it which to me makes my head dizzy.

the whole structure of social health issues in this country needs to be knocked down and allow professionals from intelligent countries to build it back up correctly so that the people that do need this medical help are first on the list as the idiots running the medical card system seem to have their head up their asses.

every time I watch or read the news in this country I have to gasp because everything is all backward. why the hell am I entitled to a medical card which took only 15 day's to reach me and there are people out there that really need it that can't get one at all. it's a mess and this should be sorted so the people that need it most get it first.

don't get me wrong i'm happy to have a medical card now but it's all wrong.

I know this idea would probably not be allowed, but it should be.

just say a person has a medical card, would it be possible to get it transfered from yourself to a person/persons that really need it more ?. of course if you done this you would not have entitlements to the medical card anymore as it would be transfered to a different client.

surely if a person has full medical privileges from the state and of which is on social welfare assistance is it not possible to give up your medical card and transfere it to someone that needs it more.

ok alot of people would not give up their medical card to people but just say if you did want to do this would it be possible. i'm healthy enough and i would not mind at all giving it up permenently if someone in need of it benefits and makes their life easier.

just a thought, but i'm curious to see if it would be possible in doing this.

the medical card I have is better off with a person that needs it than with me.

Angriest thread I've ever seen I think (and rightly so)
Having not properly lived here yet, or dealt with any of the aforementioned bullshiit, this really depresses me.
