KoL are probably one of the most boring live bands you will come across. All filler no killer. Definably wouldnt pay the ticket price or go to the effort of going up to it.

The problem being that every album the kings of leon have done.

Sounds like the last one there **** there sticking to that same old yay were on winner so why change what we do

wel kol it gets Fvcking boring

They'll always be a bunch of farm boys from the early 00's to me. Didn't like them then and I most certainly don't like them now.

I was too young to see Springsteen there, remember all my brothers heading off to it, bastards, would love if he played there again.

Was only ever there once, GnR '92, was burnt to a crisp and don't recall anything about the gig.

Sorry, it was the best gig I've ever been to, first time I saw him live, but I was so blown away that I went over to Leeds then on the same tour. Have been all over Europe to see him since, but still remember that gig, boiling hot day, crowd being hosed down. I was extremely hung over from the night before, so much so that when the bus we went up on stopped at a pub for lunch, my friend and I stayed on the bus and drank 7Up:rolleyes:

    So jealous man :D

I have a bootleg of the gig and he is constantly asking the crowd are the okay, you could hear the fear and concern in his voice. I must upload some of it to YouTube as even without video, it's great to hear his reaction to the crown, especially with it being the first time he played here.

You want some nostalgia, here's a BBC report on the day of the first UK gig and the footage they show is from Slane:

I dropped my sister and her husband off at Slane a few hours ago. Lots of beered up knackers around the place, and that's only in the surrounding fields. She said that it is knackeragua in the grounds as well. I don't think the cops are bothered anymore. That's what allows the lawlessness that exists nowadays. We'll never learn in this country.

Just had a look at the lineup, it's pretty bad for Slane.

    Kings of Leon are shyte.

Every song seems to be just the one poxy tune recycled.

The lead singer sounds like an oul fella. They are Lynard Skynard lite for the new generation, who think they look "hunky"

I am a huge Zeppelin fan, but Robert Plant's voice is completely shot. I think AC/DC is a must for Slane now. Beano Johnson never could sing anyway

    That would be awesome.

Or how about a Pink Floyd reunion?

Feck it let's have Led Zep and Pink Floyd on the same day. Come on Henry make it happen :)

Now that would be a Slane gig to go to.

Could we have a reunion of the living fab-four Beatles or as I like to call them "Ringo Starr"?

Want a good ol rock and roll band.... They should get KISS to play Slane, can you imagine the stage show they'd put on!!:D

    Yeah... like.. Kings of Leon.

Thinking like that's not going to get a good Slane. Sure, there's some great rock bands still around.. they're just not "out there" in terms of radio play as much as they were. Red Hot Chili Peppers are going touring again soon, apparently (although without Frusciante, who left the band to do amazing solo work). They'd be perfect Slane headliners (again), but people would say "This isn't 2001 lads, there's new bands\artists now lads".

Fact is this: Slane'll either have to do one of three things:
    1. Start selecting good yet fairly unknown bands.
    2. Start selecting good but slightly old bands.
    3. Start selecting good Irish bands. (Adebisi Shank or ASIWYFA to headline an Irish festival? Highly unlikely but would be awesome if it did happen)

What they're doing is picking fairly popular bands to headline (like KOL), and although that's selling the tickets, it's not making a good festival.

That would attract knackers from all over. They'd need the army, the drug squad and the bomb squad at that one

It's a bad sign when Elbow are lower down the bill than Kings of Leon.
