Does anyone know when we will be likely to find out if we have been offered rooms?

Last year we had to accept by 20th may; Can't be too long from now?

This week, or so I have been told.

It's pretty ridiculous how long we have had to wait. We applied back in March. Surely they could've had it all sorted before the exams started?

I hope you're right that it's this week.

    I applied for on-campus and I'm doing a postgrad.
I got an email on Monday (9th May) to say that no more postgraduates will be offered main campus accommodation.

They did reserve a spot for me in Trinity Halls but I declined the offer.

Was there a greater than usual number of applicants than normal this year? what % of third years get on campus spots does anyone know, roughly?

The only 3rd years who can get are people who qualify through disability and those who get them has DUCAC or CSC guarantees for sports club and society involvement.

ya was aware of that but was just wondering whether it was good enough to be on the committee of a club/society but I'd imagine its certain clubs etc

Yeah societies get awarded them based on the CSC awards. Say society of the year would be given two rooms. Every club gets one for its captain AFAIK

cheers..not so sure if every club gets one for the captain..think there might only be 8 club rooms available...for the major sports I presume.

But some postgrads got on campus? I (as a future fourth year) applied with three postgrads, and we'd all rather like to be on campus...

Yeah some do but I think they have some sort of limit on it. Unless the people you have applied with have received an e-mail saying otherwise, I would say it is safe to presume that they are being offered accommodation.

Schols are exempt from the limits obvously,

And no, club captains most certainly do not all get free on campus accom.

British sports + Gaelic + soccer get it, I think, and that's about it.

I didn't say they get free accommodation. They just get guarantees of an offer.

And sorry I got it wrong about the club captain thing. It is only the bigger clubs that get a room. I know swimming club captain gets one aswell. Sub-aqua too.

Not with all this talk of potentially putting scholars in trinity hall (as is my concern).

Do people really think this will happen? I checked the box on my application saying that I didn't mind being placed in another location but I presumed it meant I would be on campus or in Goldsmith.

I found out about putting scholars in Halls afterwards and I'm in James's for lectures which is ages away from there :(.

Didn't stop a rejection this year though, at least at first.

I heard Barra put an end to that, so no i don't think it will happen.

Just got mine too, Goldsmith. Kinda disappointed, thought schols would have swung campus and a lot of people I know seem to have gotten campus. :(

Got Goldsmith as well, house 61, I was hoping to miraculously be offered front square or something but I suppose I'll get there eventually!

    Goldsmith 64!

Didn't get an offer. Very disappointed. Put myself down for the waiting list. Hopefully I'll still get an offer.

I'm 4th Year and from well outside Dublin although I applied very late (second last day) so that may have been a factor.

I'll be very pissed if I don't eventually get an offer and someone from Dublin, who's not a Scholar or sports captain, gets one, which I know several cases of from last year.

I was in Front Square this year and Goldsmith last year and honestly they're comparable from the inside. The living area and kitchen were bigger in front square but apart from that there was no major difference in the quality of life I had in either.

Got offered GMB; haven't even finished applying for my masters yet so I'm gonna hang on to make sure they don't tell me to eff off before putting a deposit down.
