For people who think Prince Harry has no Windsor blood - Prince Philip IS Prince Harry, just 60 years older!!!

Prince Philip seems like a laugh, here is a clip from a documentary about him.

A good few years back he was in Hong Kong and asked a British woman how long she'd been there, "4 years" was the reply.

"Well you'd better not stay much longer or you'll end up with slitty eyes"

A modern day Alf Garnett if ever there was one

"If it doesn't fart or eat hay, she is not interested." On Princess Anne's love of horses.

:D The man would go down a hero if he gave this gem a shot at the national stud!

What a legend! If anything, he reminds us that we need to lighten up - the political correctness police will soon ban humour.

On arriving on a state visit somewhere the following exchange took place:
Guy at airport: Did you have a good flight Your Highness?
Prince Philip: Were you ever on an aeroplane?
Guy at airport:yes i was your highness, many times in fact.
Prince Philip: Well it was exactly like that.
    He then just walked away.
They really don't make them like this guy anymore!:D

I doubt he's a racist - plenty of people who harbour no racial hate make politically incorrect jokes. He was also awarded a medal for service in WWII wasn't he? (That would be against the nazis).

Apparently in his early days before he got hitched he was quite a playboy. Driving a sports car around London with an endless line of beautiful girls that he would have on his arm during his frequent visits to the stip/cabaret clubs of London.

Some of his classic one liners

To a driving instructor in Scotland

“How do you keep the natives off the booze long enough to get them through the test?”

To the President of Nigeria, dressed in traditional robes

“You look like you’re ready for bed!”

To a student who had been trekking in Papua New Guinea

“You managed not to get eaten, then?”

wow so people have one opinion but then when it comes to AH they contradict that for fun? is that how it works is it? i haven't been on here long enough.

Forgive me if I don't share the same sense of humor as the rest of ye in regards to Robert Mugabe. He is directly responsible for the murders of my Mother, Father and Sister.

He is also responsible for the genocide in Matabeleland where he ordered the mass murder of 20,000 innocent people. But sure thats just a joke to people in AH i suppose???

You'd get some serious banter out of him. Love him! Was watching during the 30 mins or so of introductions before dinner yesterday, and I was just imagining him thinking "this is so boring... i've already forgotten half their names... when are we eating?"

I don't know when genocide became a joke.

Do people's real opinions come out in AH? Racism is cool, Mass murder is a joke?

    Sad things to joke about.

He is mad to have a gulp of the Guinness in the clip. I was laughing when the camera went off to the left and the royal security guy was glaring at him - he had "now now, careful Phil" in his eyes!

    Phil is a gas man.

You are the one who tried to make the comparison between Mugabe and the Duke. One has power, the other doesn't. You can't set up a nonsensical comparison and then get mad when people disagree with you or blow off your point entirely.

If you want a serious discussion of when individually held racist beliefs lead to political violence, then start a thread in Politics. Although, to be fair to AH, you can start one here and will probably get some interesting comments, but you will have to filter through a lot of inflammatory nonsense as well.

I think he will have something interesting to day at the markets in cork. Lots of opportunity there for random comment from Phil.

Who is talking about power and not having power? And where is the nonsensical comparison? Is being a racist ok when you are an instantly recognizable person everywhere in the world but dont have power but it is ok when you are an illegitimate leader of one of the poorest countries in the world?

Someone said that the Duke is a legend...I said he is a racist and if any "regular" person without power was a known racist he would get no support from people and wouldn't be called a legend.

I was then told that he had no real power... Does that make his racist remarks ok? NO!!! (IMO. i wonder about everyone else)

I was told he has been doing it for 30 years... Does that make his racist remarks ok? NO!!! (IMO. i wonder about everyone else)

I then said Mugabe has been doing it for 30 years also. 2 world famous men. Both racist. both influential. NEITHER A LEGEND.

Just because people joke about things doesn't mean they don't see them any less seriously in reality as yourself.
