I want to dislike them but I can't. They're just so stupidly enthusiastic about everything.

Fair play to them, for two lads without an ounce of natual talent between them, they've made their millions.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 27,387 ✭✭✭✭super_furry

    No it isn't.

People who have actual talent are badly needed for this kind of thing. It seems all you have to do is jump around like an idiot on stage and barely sing passes as talent these days.

Not begrudgery, just an appreciation for talent.

Since when has the Eurovision been about talent?

Is this really the kind of music we want to become known for? Jedward are out and out terrible, not even close to mediocre, they don't deserve success of any kind within the music industry.

They're just so stupidly enthusiastic about everything.

It looks like the type of enthusiasm you take medication for.

Nobody is allowed to admit to finding them to be a pair of hyperactive irritants.

Facebook and elsewhere is knee-deep in ironic student homilies to them.

Possibly from the same fuckwits that sit round dodging lectures to watch Jeremy Kyle and insisting to all an sundry that it's so bad, it's good and sit through the Eurovision squealing with ironic glee.

Time for some aesthetic fascism, I think.

I think they are good singers to be honest. The dancing around would not help the vocals but they have fantastic voices when standing still from what i have heard/seen.

I don't like them and I don't like their music.

The missus had the Eurotrash thing on last night and I have to say that I am very, very grudlingly starting to gain the slightest bit of respect for them and their enthusiasm.

Fcuk it, with , Obama, Lizzy, Albert, the Pope et al visiting and Jedward winning the Euro it can't be bad for the country!

    They're still sh1te though! :pac:

    I can't believe they're 19

Also, that song was clearly written with the idea that it could be sold to Britney Spears. Why are two men singing "Sisters let me tell you how it works" (...and why do I know the lyrics?)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 547 ✭✭✭KylieWyley

Because they have absolutley no discernible talent whatsoever.

    They can't sing.

    They can't dance.

And between them they have all the charm, grace and wit of a smug turnip.

Despite this, they are constantly being shoved down our throat through tv, radio, and printed media.

They are a disgrace and embarassment. The coverage wasted on them should be going on people with actual talent who have something to offer the world other than stupid gravity defying hairstyles.

    you're a charming fella, so's ya are!

Probably just a bit of good old Irish begrudgery here. Fair play to the lads. The only act worth watching on x factor and now on eurovision. Full of beans, passion and excitement, and damn entertaining.

WalshB, eh? Are you sure you are not Louis Walsh? I wouldn't say they are pathetic. They'd have to improve significantly to get to that level, and I think that is well beyond them. If they had a million times more talent than they do, they'd still have none.

They're the kind of kids who would have been offed one way or another at any other time in Irish history.

Begrudgery in great bounds me thinks. It's only a laugh. If you don't like them, or don't like the competition, don't watch.

    The same haters probably complain:

    - that airport taxes shouldn't exist, there aren't enough tourists coming into the country

(if jedward win and bring the competition and eurovision tourists to ireland):

    - that the competition costs too much to host

    - that there are too many tourists on the street, too many weird languages about

    Chillax dudes!

How is pointing out something that annoys you immensely begrudgery?

No begrudgery, they're an awful example for teenagers.

It's fine to behave like an idiot if you've got weird hair.

KylieWyley, we don't like them and for that reason we don't watch or listen to them, yet still we are inflicted with them. I and most people with any common sense avoided that programme last night, and will do so tomorrow night. Hopefully we won't wake up to the news on Sunday morning that the two talentless gits have won. People complain about the Eurovision Song Contest, but that really would be a new low.

An absolutely heroic leap in logic. People who don't like Jedward are just a bunch of xenophobes, it's all so clear now.

What is it with this begrudgery business? It's not begrudgery, it's an expression of annoyance at the fact that we are being peddled bullsh1t

Have to say I like the song. I'll be supporting them all the way in the final

I bought the kids to see Jedward in the Grand Canal and I got to say, they are 2 enteraining feckers. Fair play to them, the kids love them, the are decent role models (not smoking, swearing, drinking, shagging grannies) for kids.

If you don't like Jedward then turn off the tv, turn the page on the paper (in fairness they tend to be in the red tops more than "proper" newspapers). Go back to your Simply Red....

Fair play to them, milk it for all it's worth lads, it wont last forever.
What they're doing isn't much different to what the punks did years ago, the big difference is they're not "cool".
My 12 year old daughter likes 'em even more than I do !!

    We do and we will.

Part of the point here is that Jedward have been practically inescapable for the last week or so.

Ah killed is a bit strong. I dont dislike them i just dislike how i cant listen to them talk, sing, dance, talk and sing or dance without crumpling up in a ball on the floor from the almighty cringe.

If they were representing us at something important i'd maybe be more angry about it but its the eurovision, no act a country could be proud of would be subjected to that ****e.

That's precisely the type of smug generalisation that turns people from merely disliking / ignoring the phenomenon to actively hating it.

i say fair play to them, they are making an absolute fortune out of it so good luck to them.
the fuckers are 4/1 second jollys for the contest, why didnt i back them yesterday when they were 6's:(

How is shouting across presenters and interviewers, jumping around the place ad nauseum, making absolutely no sense through overuse of crap words and speaking in an annoying made-up accent viewed was "decent role models" ?

Jedward are not ambassadors. Any attempt to describe them as such is laughable in the extreme. They can't even string two coherent sentences together. If you believe this is worthy of "ambassador" status then fair enough. I don't.

The "begrudgers" as you describe them are not necessarily begrudgers. I have no truck against anyone who has earned and deserves their success. These two have no discernible musical talent and, as such, have neither earned nor deserve their success.
