Will we ever see a black Taoiseach/President in Ireland?

Nobody ever thought it would happen in the US so what are the odds of it happening here?

Well we have a much smaller black population than America. I'd say it'll be a while, but not because of racism or anything.

I'd say it's possible within the next 30 years. It depends on how many black TDs get elected and if any of them work their way to the top of their respective parties. I suppose a black President would be more probable because you can be elected to that post without necessarily being a big deal politically. In so far as "native" Irish people are racist I imagine it would be easier for a black candidate with an Irish name and/or one Irish parent to get to either position.

In time its a possibility rather than a probability. Right now the population of black people just aint big enough. Hard to see where a population explosion of black people would come from to make it a probability.

If this question was asked 25 years you could replace black for woman.

No doubt we will have people of other races in high government and state positions before long.

America was discovered in 1492.

Blacks first arrived in America in 1607.

So, it took 404 years until a black man was elected president.

Is France not safe? And if for years there were no direct flights between Ireland and Nigeria how did it happen so many ended up here?

Does nobody else remember the heavily pregnant ladies landing in Ireland and boom, citizenship for the child.
Until Michael McDowell got a referendum passed with a large majority to stop the nonsense.

Well thats not really relevant since 50% of the population are women. How many are black?

Are you saying Irish society is liberal to the point of extremism? Irish society where I can't buy a beer to take home after ten, where a woman can't undergo an abortion, where our age of consent is among the highest in the world? Yep, we're a real bastion of demon liberalism.

When the children of all immigrants grow up, their will be plenty of them active in politics, personally I see the immigrants taking a greater role in driving this country forward, considering we cant do it right anyway, iv no doubt they will do a better job too.

Which begs the obvious question, why didnt they stay at home to improve their own country if they are so much better than us?

You'd almost think there was no corruption or crime elsewhere in the world....

We are an independent nation for 90 years and even early governments took great risks and succeeded liked Ardnacrusha.
