I know a woman who's husband is a garda, most are only getting riot training now. Her husband believes that they are being very naive about this visit. It's not the queen herself, but the sheer potential for trouble on the streets.

They are as naive as they were for the Love Ulster march... yet this person will be here for four days!

The gardai expect riots, no doubt about it...

Trouble will happen that's a fact, it's just the scale that will be in question. It's the bus loads coming down from the North that will be the worry.

    So do I.

I love it when it kicks off.

IMO The Queen won't reach the garden of rememberance...

Security concerns will probably have her flown home...

I think they should stop the visit. Not because I disagree with the visit, but I have bad vibes about it

I don't see that. There is no way the Queen is going to plan this visit and her and Mary McAleese aren't going to get on with it and complete the visit.

I think some people need to just come to terms with it. The Queen is going to the republic on a state visit. I mean, what is possible wrong with it?

Love Ulster riots will be a picnic compared to this, you'll have every single nutter in the country converging on Dublin, also from the North...

    Me to .....

It's the innocents that get caught up in any trouble on the streets who I'll feel sorry for

I reckon there'll be some trouble.. just hope it doesn't get out of hand and is limited to a few scummers throwing traffic cones and the like. You can be sure the media will over-report on the negative aspects of the visit.. all this talk about how the visit will shine Ireland in a marvellous light is a bit optimistic.

The rioters have no legit reason to riot.

They're pretty much getting every cop in the state in on this.

Riots will be easier to squash than in the north because the gardai don't have to worry about republican propaganda the way the psni do.

If there is a big riot its gonna look pretty partitionist to outsiders. Whens the last time a riot made the news for a British monarch visiting Belfast?

The Royal family have come over to Northern Ireland plenty of times and no riots at all. At least nothing that im aware about it. Northern Ireland is a different country though.

This is a visit to the ROI. So it is a bit different.

That's your opinion, but you need to understand that a lot of people in the Republic and indeed the North see a massive injustice in the status quo... I don't want to insult your intelligence, but you are seriously naive if you believe what you say about no legit reason

Are loyalists planning to come down in support of the visit? thatll only add fuel to the already big fire.

I've had people in work giving me grief since I said in my opinion there will be all manner of trouble that will eclipse Love Ulster. It's not that I agree with it or welcome it (I definitely do not), but bloody hell, it's a certainty!

I live and work in Dublin city centre, and i'm getting remote access sorted so I can feck off to Galway for that week. Overly paranoid perhaps but I can't be arsed with the hassle of crossing the city during that.
