    You did it wrong.

Youre SUPPOSED to put it on an extension lead. Turn the volume up full and chuck it through the window.

    to add to this list
    - a bin with the hotel brand-name on it
    - tv, yes somebody took a tv
    - bedroom curtains
    - tv remotes seem common also

I might have a suspect for you...
I once refused to pay a hooker in a hotel room, does that count?

No, because you paid him in the hallway instead.

One hotel I stayed in had little chips fitted to their towels so you couldn't steal them,or so they said
i always take a nice big bath towel when staying in hotels and the last time there was a sign informing us of said chip but chanced it anyway and nothing happened.i would say just a scare tactic.:) The best way to get a nice robe is to use the spa in the hotel just wear one from the spa back to the room.

You do know that the value of those things in hotels is worthless? It's not like we can sell someones used electric razor.

The charger might come in handy, if someone is looking for one, but chances are, they won't.

Most lost property is kept for about a year, clothes are then usually given to charity.

Or take them from the trolley when the cleaners are cleaning the rooms.

I can remember attending the Fir Bolg bike rally at Whites Castle Lisdoonvarna, as a precautionm management would move everything worth taking from all the rooms including TV sets, cutlery and anything else that could walk. We were still charged the same rate for the rooms. :p

Most hotels would charge the cards used when making booking online or over the phone if theft has occurred. Some people forget that fact when they think they are getting one up on the hotels :D

Anything with a brand name seems to be common.

I actually watched someone attempt to steal the mattress. From a 2nd floor room. Myself and the security guard were having a smoke, and watched them lower it out through the window using the sheets (ripped up) down onto their car roof. Man, they got a shock when the carpark barrierst open for them, and the Five-O pulled up in front of them.

Would you walk through Dunnes taking things off trolleys, and stuffing them up your shirt?

So what do you steal? :pac:

I for one, like to steal all coffee and tea sachets. Come in handy later. Never stole a towel. Must do sometime. But I was tempted to steal a hotel key once. Not the one I was given but another one that was left under the bed for some strange reason. (well, not so strange i guess. Person misplaced key underbed)

    So what have you stolen?

    Cherries:D

Nothing, absolutely nothing surprises me about what people think they can get away with. Some people don't seem to factor in that their are cameras around, and everyone in and out of hotels have eyes and ears and don't hesitate in passing on information either, some even by phone after check-out :) thankfully.

You do know I wasn't seriously suggesting that they could be sold on

I took a shower cubicle once. It was a b*stard trying to fit in my suitcase.

The stuff that goes missing in our place is unbelievable... can't keep salt and pepper grinders in stock, changed to shakers, they still go missing. Have nice baskets that the chips come in, they disappear too...

Ive started taking people at face value when it comes to hotels, because, frankly, people are that stupid.

Pretty much the tea, coffee, sugar, loo roll, toiletries, towels, slippers, pillow cases, one light bulb, key card, fuse from the fridge if provided, bible, any pens writing paper, comment card, and if your leaving your room at the right time, take stuff off the room service trolley as your passing by. ie. more tea, coffee, sugar....

mini bars , most of them in this country and western europe are easily robbed without being paid for.

When I finished the drinks I politely told the maid the bar was never refilled after the last guests.:D

The lampshades a nonono.. but the lightbulbs... Ah yes yes yes

Remote controls.. ah nonono.. but the batteries?? ah yes yes yes

showercaps... faceclothes.. earbuds.. tampons?? It's all fair game

    Love it :)

    Fast forward to 1.40

I actually used to collect all the toiletries from hotels the way others collected stamps/stickers/fancy paper! If my Dad was staying in a hotel cos of work I used to get him to bring home the toiletries to me- he was delighted cos he never had to buy me anything!!

If there's more than one of the same card, that means I've been there more than once. Recognise any? :)

i think that must effect other customers instead
i was in a big 4 star place in germany a few years ago and you could keep tabs on your bill on the tv. every day without fail theyd charge colas from the fridge. there was never any in it but im guessing the cleaners never restocked it after noting each time there was no cola. its odd that happened for nearly a week before the hotel sorted it out with them (cos every day we'd ask them what the story was with the 12 euro colas)
i could only guess it was either the previous occupant that left the room cola'less or the cleaners keeping it

ive never taken anything except the toiletries but i thought it was a given that they were for the occupant cos its not like they can reuse used shower gel.
