In the modern world don't email, text, facebook, or write down anything you don't want on the 9 O'clock news. A slip of a key and boom its sent to the wrong person.

    ;)

...or you fall out with someone and then they all that stuff saved....

Your texts and emails must be the most boring on the planet if you stick to that rule.

If my boyfriend left the room before and left his phone i would have a look through his messages just out of curiosity. Stopped doing it though because he did it to me one day and i realised how annoying it is. Plus who cares about text messages! :p

Maybe their friends who sent them something private not expecting some nosey person to be reading something that is none of their business.

Can I ask any who does read their partners messages do you not trust them or what?

If that's the reason you need to sort it out.

My mates woman not only reads his messages but replies and then deletes them, we only found this out recently and were wondering why he always refused to go on the beer!

    That is totally ****ed up.

I'd break up with someone for that and I tolerate lots of shit behaviour but privacy is a big thing.

Curiosity of what? What were you curious about?

My Mrs did it once or twice to me when we were younger, I soon put her straight on that.

My phone is my phone. Mine. Yes, we are a couple, I love her to bits, have no secrets from her, but I still have my personal space. And for me, my phone is my personal space.

Damn straight. Nothing a quick punch to the ovaries didn't sort out.

I in no way condone/commit spousal abuse. But it's AH, I'm trying to be funny, in a non funny way.

I've never heard of anybody doing it and wouldn't do it myself.
What if a friend is texting something private?

What I want to know is what people have to hide??

I think all texts should be logged in a database that's open to the public. It would make society much more open imo.

Plus it would be hugely entertaining. :pac: I'm getting tired of reading all the same threads on boards.

All texts should be sent via Joe Duffy. He will read each one out, and remark on their terribleness where appropriate.

I don't think anyone wants to read about me calling Her Indoors' sister a raging cúntrag.

I smell a rat here. You mean, YOU log into HIS Facebook page, and read HIS messages. I don't think its a male thing to do.

I bloody hate it, just because you read me your messages doesn't mean you get to read mine.

I'd read my boyfriend's texts if he asked me to, say if he was driving or something, as he doesn't use his phone for anything personal anyways.

However I use my phone and my e-mail to have private conversations with my friends all the time. I would never let him read my texts because of this (not that he's ever wanted to), and I think it's really f*cked up that anyone would read personal messages on another person's phone.

It's not a matter of trust, at all, in my opinion. It's that I might be having a personal conversation with a close friend or family member via text. They are comfortable having that conversation with me, it's completely unfair that my boyfriend can have access to it. If they wanted him to know, they'd have chosen to talk to him about it themselves.

Would you be OK with your friends' OHs reading every text/e-mail that you send to your friends? Without your knowledge or permission, and regardless of how well you know the OH? In my opinion, I wouldn't like it done to me - it's not fair and it's an invasion of privacy.
