The Coolest Person You Have Met

I used to live / work in Belgium and my landlord of the apartment I was renting was in the Belgian Airforce flying F-16's. Really sound guy, and just oozed coolness. Often used to drop in to the bar I worked in for a beer after his shift in his flight gear, mirrored aviator sunglasses, the lot - women were all over him like a rash! Used to go out to 'party' with him some nights - fun, fun times (yeah, I got the left overs)!

So who's the coolest person you know personally / have met? (Doesn't have to be anyone famous or anything)

Are you sure they weren't just mistaking him for a stripogram?

Scott Gorham and Gary Moore (RIP)

although to be fair I think they were more impressed at me (female mid-twenties) recognising them than I was :D

They were drinking in a bar in Belfast a few years when I wandered up behind them and mumbled their names to see if it was really them. Good night's drinking involved afterwards

    Eddie Gormley

Watched Juve beat Ajax on penos with the Pats team in '96 but was in awe of him as a kid. Even though he was a footballer, and in my eyes world class, he smoked like a chimney too

    Brian Kerr was there too

My Dad raised me to believe that Thin Lizzy songs were mother's milks.

I was gutted when I heard Gary Moore had died - he used to throw me an odd free ticket to his shows every now and then, genuinely nice guys

Ritchie Havens. A proper cool person. Amazing singer and a good story teller along with it. He played in a small bar here in Galway and had the good fortune to talk with him after the gig.

Down at the hospital it has to be the ultrasound guy, or when he's away the hip replacement guy.

Once when I was buying a CD I turned around and saw Richie Kavanagh standing beside me at the counter. It was the best day of my life. He's even cooler in real life than he is in his music videos.

For me it was this washed-up Italian actor in his late twenties (well, not so much washed-up as never-made-it-in-the-first-place) who I used to stack shelves with. Good with comebacks and a quick sense of humour, smooth.

An all-round cool guy, he could burst into a sudden flurry of tap dancing.

    Brightened up many a day...

Met Bill Bailey after a gig in the Olympia in Dublin once. Really cool, friendly, sound guy. Also one of my all-time favourite comedians, so that was deadly!
