Is the Thor movie suitable for kids?

Salutations.
Im bringing my kid to see Thor over the week end and i have some concerns. The last religious movie i was at was that one by Mel Gibson and it sounded similar to Thor. A God gets sent to Earth by his father where he helps man kind. The end is inspired by X-men where the hero gets (seemingly) killed but he has regenerative powers a little like Wolverine but not as good as it takes him 3 day to heal. All very promising but it was extremely violent and down beat in tone. Not at all the sort of movie for children.
is Thor like this ?

So honestly do you want to know wheter thor is good or is this an example of the religious intolerance thats been in vogue lately?

Not too sure if it's suitable for kids. They all get hammered in that movie.

I certainly wouldn't call the film "religious" per se.
I think thats a far, far stretch of the imagination.

Will it be suitable for kids?
Probably no more suitable than "Kick-Ass"

Thor is about as religious as Spider-Man, hes a comic character based on Norse mythology.

Although remember the scene in The Passion where you see a close up of a big hammer wailing nails into Jesus's hands? that was Thor.

I've not seen it, but from what I'm told it is fairly kid-accessible, a good old-fashioned good vs evil type film.
