Singer arrested for racism after a Chinese guy heard him singing "kung fu fighting"

A pub singer has been arrested on suspicion of racism for singing the classic chart hit Kung Fu Fighting.

The song, performed by Simon Ledger, 34, is said to have offended two Chinese people as they walked past the bar where he was singing.

Hahaha that's a bit mental in fairness. Years ago one of me friends was singing smack my bitch up and a challenge walking passed him on the footpath turned around and gave him a smack in the mouth. Funniest fight I ever seen.

I heard that they were the original lyrics and due to the fact that openly slagging an entire race of people with a racial slur isn't the way to get a hit song the lyrics were changed...

There's bound to be more to this story that what the Daily Mail article claims. Typical rabble rousing story from them to keep their readers outraged.

The BBC story says:

Simon Ledger, 34, of Shanklin, said he was playing the Carl Douglas hit at the Driftwood bar, Sandown, on Sunday when the man of Chinese origin took offence.

Police said the passer-by claimed he was then "subjected to racial abuse".

So maybe that is the reason he got arrested and NOT because he was singing Kung Fu Fighting
