    Nothing will come of this.

The Chinese guys obviously don't have a cheesy sense of music.

    Aren't the lyrics

    "Everybody was Kung Fu Fighting"
"Those Chinks were fast as lightning"?

Seems like more than enough of a reason for the Chinese to call it racist..

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,898 ✭✭✭✭seanybiker

Hahaha that's a bit mental in fairness. Years ago one of me friends was singing smack my bitch up and a challenge walking passed him on the footpath turned around and gave him a smack in the mouth. Funniest fight I ever seen.

    Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It's an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip

    Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing

There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we're into a brand knew trip

    Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they did it with expert timing

(repeat)..make sure you have expert timing
Kung-fu fighting, had to be fast as lightning

I'm not doubting it happened. It's the kind of article the DM and their readers love I meant
Look at the pure outrage in the comments

I heard that they were the original lyrics and due to the fact that openly slagging an entire race of people with a racial slur isn't the way to get a hit song the lyrics were changed...

Now that I look for a link on t'internet to back it up I can't find it anywhere... :o

Lied to by my own dear mammy...

So now the PC brigade say we can't even call the daily mail staff an odious bunch of lying fuctards. It's political correctdness gone ....etc.

There's bound to be more to this story that what the Daily Mail article claims. Typical rabble rousing story from them to keep their readers outraged.

    The BBC story says:
Simon Ledger, 34, of Shanklin, said he was playing the Carl Douglas hit at the Driftwood bar, Sandown, on Sunday when the man of Chinese origin took offence.

Police said the passer-by claimed he was then "subjected to racial abuse".

So maybe that is the reason he got arrested and NOT because he was singing Kung Fu Fighting

    Incitment to Hatred Act
    Probably updated since then

Well just speaking your mind is different to rallying a crowd and starting a rampage

Jokes aside, the fact that someone was arrested for singing 'Kung Fu Fighting' is terrifying. Sometimes, you have to wonder about the world we live in - on one hand, ultra democratic and as good as any time in which to live, others....I mean, this? Honestly? It's like hearing news from an alternite dimension, sometimes, in AH. I can't believe this crap happens in real life. Poor guy...

    +1

But if it WAS for that reason, then it's not political correctness gone "potty" (despite the hard-on it would have given him to say that) it was just the Chinese guy being an asshole.
Although "There are plenty of Welsh people at our shows – does it mean I can’t play any Tom Jones?" is a sh1t and dumb analogy. A song about being from the valleys/eating leeks would be the equivalent he's looking for.

The Daily Fail is an alternate dimension. Reality has no place within their walls.

Saw this in the local rag from back home, thought it was worthy of an AH post. Shows the shocking mentality of some people. PC gone mad imo.

    Taken From
    http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/8996674.Kung_Fu_singer_faces_no_charges/

A PUB singer has been told he faced no charges after singing 1970s disco hit Kung Fu Fighting in front of Chinese people.

It is thought the passer-by on the Isle of Wight was offended by the lyrics on Sunday and complained to police.

Simon Ledger, 34, from Shanklin, who performs in a pub in Sandown was later arrested – in a Chinese restaurant.

But after answering "street bail", to be quizzed on suspicious of causing racially aggravated harassment, alarm and distress, no charges were brought.

A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: “Anyone who perceives they are a victim of a racially aggravated crime is entitled to make a report to the police and we will treat a report seriously.”
