I've done a couple of times, one poor chap was badly beaten so i called the ambulance and went with him to hospital. His mum, bless her, drove me home....they really did a number on the lad.

been their, easily one of the most heart sinking moments of my life...

seeing someone who is whiter then white, get the living ****e knocked out of him for no reason ( not mugged or anything, the lads just wanted a go i guess )

it takes a big man to start a fight, a bigger man to walk away and and Even bigger man to hit the first fella for being such an idiot.

well in an ideal world I'd stand in and break it up but I'm far too small and lightweight to do anything and would just get knocked out by a gust of wind as I ran over to intervene...:(:(

Im 19 so they'd probably be around my age so no

If they were about 14 and it was like knacker kids attacking a normal or "goth" kid as ye'd say(a stereotypical bastards :p) then I would but not older then that as they'd be too big. When Im older sure but now I'd just die
sure there's 14yr old lads now that are 6ft tall and a gang of them together can take down a grown man iv seen it happen:eek:

I was in an Abrakebabra a few years back and myself and two mates witnessed a fairly bad scrap between a girl and what seemed to be either her fella or one of her "friends", the guy just turned on her and was going for her, screaming at the her that she was a slapper, smacked here a copuple of times and all the like. But in fairness she was giving as good as she got. I was tempted to step in ( I was the only one bar the staff that was sober I'd say) but the lads with me persuaded me not to, wasnt worth getting a loaf in the face over. The girls will often go for people who intervene too, then stick up for the guy thats beating lumps out of them, theyre that drunk. Her mates were no help, just screaming all the time.

Secuity fella eventually called the Guards but we were outa there as they arrived.

i love when people start all this hard man talk that they would take on the whole world and kick the sh1t out of everyone i worked in the security buisness for a number of yrs and seen lads who spoke like this the hard talkin man and as soon as there was a bit of hassle they were gone running ya wouldent see them for dust it's a true saying ya know, beware of the silent man and the dog that dosent bark:pac::pac:

It definitely depends on the situation. Bear in mine, I'm a 5' 3" girl, with a heavy conscious

If it was a guy getting jumped on by lads (for what seems no reason) - I'd try and get help from security or guards (if around) or if it was getting ridiculous, try and get someone to stop them.

If it was a couple fighting (like knackers or something), I would probably just walk by as long as it doesn't look like it's one sided/getting bad.

If it was a girl getting physically attacked (ie screaming her head off) - I'd get help/at least try and get her away from the attacker.

If it was a bunch of lads - probably walk by.

You walk down the street, I used to be a barman so walk home sober when everyone falls around Eyre Sq in Galway
See a lad slap his girlfriend so you step in and try to cool heads.

"Ye starting on me fella??" and then the girl and the guy gang up on you

If there is a solution I do not know it (find a garda in Eyre Sq at night? lol)
sure the gardai need there beauty sleep at nite:D

Closest I ever got was trying to stand in the middle between an ex and an attacker. Being a girl on my own I doubt I could help in random assaults but I would call the police if I could
I wouldn't know if you are supposed to ring 999 or just try to find a local garda station number?? That'd take ages

In theory yes if a lady was in trouble. But a few scummies? Never again..

12 years ago... outside a video shop in the city.. 6 lads kicking a nobber on the ground. I ran into them and all 7 turned on me..... Freaks. My car got a hammering as I drove off. Gardai were uninterested. CCTV in the video shop was 'broken'.... Never again. Let them kill eachother. Cheaper for the state in the long run.

999 or 112. You get through to an operator and you just say the service and area you need and then they connect you to the right Garda control Center. If things are dangerous there's no point in putting yourself in danger. A good eye witness account is very useful too.

Fair enough - I never knew if that kind of thing was emergency enough for 999 :o At least now I'd know what to do

Yes this would be considered an emergency. Anything which requires the urgent attendance of the emergency services.

Stepped in to help a mate before, ended up with a broken jaw. Won't be doing that again.

In 2007 I witnessed a man stabbing his wife in a car in a shopping centre carpark, I was the 2nd on the scene (1st guy legged it to get the centre security) anyway I literary dragged the woman out the car (difficult enough since she was hefty enough) and then with the help of a couple of other men dragged her to the back of the car where one of the guys took of his shirt to stem the blood loss.

The husband didn't try to get out or escape but I did watch him try to cut his own head off with a plasterboard saw, then try to hammer drive it into the side of his temple and then try to stab himself in the heart with it. Was a most bizzare experience but at the time I didn't really think of my own safety until I seen yer man trying self harm at which time I was trying to make up my mind whether to kick the door closed on his leg or just run if he attempted to get out.

Security then arrived and he then started the car and tried to reverse over the wife, then took off hit a golf buggy and near knocked down a police woman.

Cops later said that is was likely that the wife would have been killed if I hadn't pulled her out at that point, the court case was really funny as he sacked his counsel and represented himself he was cross examining me and we were both talking about the perpetrator in the 3rd person even though it was really him I could even see the scars on his throat. He trying to claim insanity.

    went some like this

Dragan: Did you notice anything unusual behavior about the perpetrator?
Me: Yes he was stabbing someone.
Dragan: But did you notice anything else unusual about his behavior?
Me: Where I come from stabbing someone would be pretty unusual behavior.

    (jury laughs)
Dragan: But other than that did you notice anything else?
Me: Yeah I watched him try to cut his own head off
Dragan: What was your thoughts when you witnessed that?
Me: Well I remember thinking 'that's something you don't see everyday'.

    (big laugh from jury)

He got 17 years for attempted murder

Police usually come late in hope the crowd move on,i don't think these things get to court because the defence could say you where drinking that night.
