Sluts are included in the main census.

They don't have one of their own.

When will we get the census resluts?

Probably two weeks before the next census takes place.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

As a census enumerator I would like to give our side of the story; there is absolutely no consideration given by the public when it comes to delivering and collecting the census. We are trying to do our job and the public is making it almost impossible for us. No courtesy or respect at the door and when it comes to leaving several notes that we have called with a telephone number to make arrangements to call back, we draw a blank. Please, please do us the courtesy of ringing us and letting us know when you are in; we have a huge area to cover and need the co-operation of the public to ensure that all forms are returned. So quit moaning and do your job and make ours a little easier.

You joined just to post this, and moaned about us not being considerate. Please.

Trish54,I bare you or any of your collegues no ill will, but lets be honest here ,you all applied for the job as more than likely for the extra income, not for the fun nor to benefit the country...You cannot make the assumption that all enumerators were met with the behavior you seem to state..how do I know this because I know the one from my area and the two surrounding areas and they told me when I asked that they were met at either time of delivery or collection of forms with no hostility......maybe in your case its a lesson learned and you wont apply for the job again, and well if you do at least you know what to expect at least in your area anyway....Not everyone is as uncivil as you seem to think...

I never did census work but I did work for the electoral register when Dick Roche had his big clean up drive a few years back.
And from the people I know who are enumerators or reading the thread over in work forum, it's the kind of job you do once and get through it but unlikely you'll do it again

There are always young fresh people raring for it next time. It's certainly no easy money spinner or handy money.
But it's paid fairly for what you do

    A /I am not worried,if I was I wouldn't have filled it out.
B/come tell my enumerator she is a liar.
C/If it was that confidential why did it not come with an envelope provided.

Because the CSO didn't expect you to be helplessness to come in conjunction with whining. If you want, you can look it up on their website. The address is freepost.

Not that I don't find what you are saying absolutely fascinating, but what does it have to do with confidentiality or the definition of the word.?

Ended up filling the thing out and just giving it back to her.. turns out that if you are not at home, and you put down that you were in somebody else's house.. they send a form to the enumerator in that locality and check with the person that you were where you say you were...

Given that the lad did not get given a census form, I did not want to bring the enumerator to his door..

Your asking why it didn't come with an envelope. Hint - you can send a letter or census form or any other form of document in your own envelope. The state does not have to provide you with everything.

And yet I have to provide the state with every tiny detail....

After having the guy annoy me all week i asked him how much he was being paid -

He told me it would work out at about €2500 for doing 400 houses - its broken down by how many forms completed, storage, weekly allowance - no doubt this is a conservitive number the guy gave me -

now theres about 1.5 million house holds in ireland so it is costing the state 10 million quid for this poinless census form - isnt there a recession going on?

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 34,567 ✭✭✭✭Biggins

    Wot recession!

    Exactly.

Its about accounting for the future, not for tallying the past.

It's not, but the way it is executed is incredibly inefficient and expensive. In the UK it's done by post.

No......no it's not. To put is simply, it has a huge impact on how resources are allocated, thats one example of its importance.

It's more than a months work of abuse at the doorstep op for the money - you could have applied if you wanted the job? ... just fill in the form and move on..

I've also found out that these census guys get paid per completed form - so by not filling it out I'm saving the tax payer money -

no need to thank me tax payers, I'm bringing the system one pebble at a time!!!

Well when they decide what transport systems run through your area, schools should be available and health services don't moan about taxpayers monies going other than where you would like ( barring banks that is - you can moan about them if you like ). It's the whole point of it op - I know it's AH etc. but it's just a form - a teeny form, you only have to put a line over most of the boxes so made very easy too....:(

..and no I'm not an 'enumerator', but I like 'stats' me, can't help it.

You really have no idea how a country is actually run or how infrastructure is planned at all , do you?

In the UK, you can do it online. That's how I filled out my census form (I live in London). I'm amazed that people actually have to come and collect the form from you in Ireland
