You said that women are more likely to be assaulted by fellow soldiers than be injured in combat (paraphrase), well women don't serve in direct combat roles in the US military, only in support roles. Just so you know. And to reduce the sensationalism in that statement.

Get your facts straight. Just because you read these pathetic facts from sources that clearly have their own agendas to smear the whole of the US armed forces as scum doesn't make it true. You and Whiteonion remind me of Fox news a lot. Make up stories and report them to be true.

They aren't making things up, exactly. They just use figures as an opening argument (which is fine) but then they'll pick and choose what parts of other posts to respond to, while ignoring the valid points. See, they tend to jump on any slight chance of a point that you have made that is wrong.

In fairness, however, the rate of females suffering sexual abuse is a fair bit higher in the military than it is in the civilian world (Though I'm not sure it's as bad as one in four). However, that said, there is no evidence that I've seen that the rate of people conducting sexual abuse is higher in the military than the civilian world. The grossly disproportionate ratio of males to females in the military compared to the nation's population at large will see to that.

The thing is, sexual comments and jokes about gender, are classed sexual harrassment in most cases. So these "assaults" could be as something as "you should be in the kitchen making pies instead of out on the field".

Well, according National Public Radio (NPR) the figure is as high as one third. Now this is probably an estimate but it appears that 90% of rapes go unreported and they state that 90% of female personnel have suffered sexual harassment.
