The American soldier, a true monster

It's stupid to generalise but it's still a pretty grim reality that this stuff can happen in what is considered to be the world's finest military force.
In 2010 the Pentagon anonymously surveyed active-duty soldiers who had been sexually assaulted about why they declined to report their attacks. Almost half the responding men said they kept silent because they didn’t want anyone to know, a third said they didn’t think anything would be done, and almost 30 percent said they were afraid of retaliation or reprisals.

The fact that in so many cases the complaints were ignored reminds me a bit of the church abuse scandal in this country.. of course, nobody ever makes generalisations about that, do they!

Whiteonion it never ceases to amaze me how much of a jackass troll you are. I expect to be taking a holiday for calling you a jackass so I may as well say it again. Jackass.

Here is another article of what the American soldier is like.

"Less than two weeks after arriving on base, he was gang-raped in the barracks by men who said they were showing him who was in charge of the United States. When he reported the attack to unit commanders, he says they told him, 'It must have been your fault. You must have provoked them.'”

"women in the armed forces are now more likely to be assaulted by a fellow soldier than killed in combat"

Are you US Army fanboys still going to tell me these are just isolated incidents? No you can't, it's obvious that American soldiers are true monsters.

Here is another article of what a Dublin person is like

"A Dublin man has been sentenced to 15 years for his role in trying to make a female college student have sex with her male housemates after breaking into their home with a hammer and hacksaw."

Are you Dublin people fanboys still going to tell me these are just isolated incidents? No you can't, its obvious that Dublin people are true monsters.

If these assaults weren't reported how did they know which soldiers to survey?

EDIT: Just realised from reading quotes of my post that I left out a word.

I think it means if you were assaulted and I knew about it, I'd report it and you would then be surveyed as to why you didn't report it.

Not sure actually! Maybe they circulated the survey to everyone and asked those who had been assaulted to partake in it?

    I love generalisations.

One soldier bad. All soldiers bad.

One irish man bombs a psni officers car and kills him. Did we all do it?

No...One man did. But by your reasoning, we all did.

One man, josef fritzl did horrible things to his daughter in a basement for 25 years. He is a man, You are a man. Did you do this as well then? By your reasoning you did.

Will you be turning yourself in now?

2 people won the lotto last week. I am a person. Where is my money? :)

Actually, the OP's argument would be more akin to a group of people with a duty/job being monsters, rather a group of people.
Example would be: one police officer called a black fella a racist word and made racist remarks, so now all officers are racist.
Or, this guy in the shop stole 50 cent from me in change, all shop workers are theives.

OP ....as an American, I have to commend you on coming forward and exposing us all for what we truly are.....MONSTERS !!!

We know where you live, and we know where you sleep. You had better not sleep with the closet door open, or look under your bed,

Your duvet cocoon will not protect you when we come for you.

Sent by the CIA to kill him, eh? If I enjoy the fact that you're a cold-blooded killer, am I and all Irish people monsters too? :pac:

    Anybody ever see this?:

Filmmaker Vaughan Smith spent 10 days recording life and death on a US Medevac helicopter in Afghanistan.

    Blood and Dust-DUSTOFF in Afghanistan:

    WATCH ALL OF IT.

Incredible short film on medevac in Afghanistan. I had the pleasure of meeting Crews from the 159th when they came to the Salthill Airshow in Galway a few years back.

You know, I've obviously completely and utterly misunderstood my job description. Had I known that it was a license/justification to get all my primeval kicks but killing and raping, I'd have started long ago. Thank you, OP, for notifying me of my omission and the fact that I've not been taking advantage of this fact to obtain my own personal satifaction at the inhumane expense of others. Indeed, I shall go the whole way and set about finding a suitable 'monster' costume.

Hannibal Lechter mask, or Godzilla suit, do you think?

So almost 1.5 million soldiers are monsters

    or

    you're making a gross generalisation

    I know what i believe

1 out of every 4 females in the US armed forces has been raped by fellow male personnel. So get a figure for that and you got the number of rapists. I doubt one guy is doing all the raping. According to the Lancet over 1 million Iraqi civilians have been killed since the war began. I diubt that they were all killed by just one guy. But a lot of the civilians were wiped out en-masse from napalm/white phosphorous strikes in Fallujah and other indescriminate attacks. Then you've got the Haditha massacre, Abu Ghraib, Bagram, Mahmoudiya, Guantanamo and all the soldiers who have murdered cameramen and reporters so they couldn't tell what was going on, etc. and you've got a fairly high number of scumbags in the service.

I dont doubt any of that either but i was mainly referring to this statement by the op
it's obvious that American soldiers are true monsters.

Which is untrue a lot of good soldiers in the US forces but to tar them all with the same brush is ridiculous

I eat breakfast 300 yards from 4000 Cubans who are trained to kill me, so don't think for one second that you can come down here, flash your posts, and make me nervous.

I told ye all that Starbel was an evil overlord who sits in a big spinney chair, stroking a white cat, but would ye listen. OOOhhHH NOOO, well heres the damn proof- even the Cubans know how dangerous he is, they have trained 4000 men to kill him, and he still isn't dead - the dastardly fecker. (I reckon NAMA is just one of his evil schemes):D

But what you two are doing is cherry picking. If you showed that you had a balanced view instead of making generalisations I'm sure you'd have a lot more people agreeing with you. I've seen a few of each of your posts and you each make some valid points but you make it easy for people to disagree with you when you seem so unreasonable yourselves.

Do you have links for these "articles"?

I've met a few US soldiers travelling to and from there, had a near hour long chat with two in Shannon airport one morning as they were shipping out and they were absolute gents. I guess they just didnt get the chance to rape me though.
